WeddingWire and your ads claiming the same weddings? Conversion tracking that shows who booked each couple
You pay for a WeddingWire storefront and run Google or Meta ads, and both seem to claim the same couples, so you can't tell which spend is booking weddings. Calls ring a WeddingWire Call Tracking number, inquiries land as "New lead from" emails, and the WeddingWire review widget on your site can send paid visitors back to your storefront. We give every couple one source and report signed contracts to Google and Meta only when an ad click started them.

WeddingWire · what breaks
What goes wrong when you advertise and list on WeddingWire
- 01
"My ads send people to my site, then they inquire on WeddingWire"
WeddingWire's Review Widget links to the reviews on your storefront. On a page your ads land on, a couple you paid to reach can click over and inquire there instead. The ad gets no conversion and bidding learns the click was worthless.
- 02
"WeddingWire's website clicks and my GA4 never agree"
WeddingWire counts clicks on its own storefront, and it has told vendors that couples opting out under California, Virginia, Colorado and Connecticut privacy laws can drop out of its visit and click reports. Judge the listing on those numbers and you may cut or renew a subscription on figures that never matched your site.
- 03
"Phone leads from WeddingWire and from my ads blur together"
With Call Tracking off, your storefront shows the business phone you entered, which is usually the number on your site and ads too. A couple who found you on WeddingWire and dialed looks exactly like an ad caller, so call conversions credit the wrong channel and bidding chases them.
- 04
"WeddingWire shows bookings I never confirmed"
Couples can mark you as hired, sometimes mistaking it for a bookmark, and WeddingWire can block that date on your Availability calendar. Count those as bookings and the listing looks stronger than it is when you set next season's budget.
WeddingWire · the fix
What changes — WeddingWire
Paid visitors who drift to WeddingWire are visible
Widget and storefront-link clicks on your ad landing pages are recorded, so you can tell whether the widget costs you ad conversions.
Smart Bidding trains on ad-sourced contracts only
Google Ads and Meta get signed contracts carrying their own click IDs. WeddingWire messages and tracked calls stay in your CRM.
Your WeddingWire renewal rests on contracts
Booked revenue from WeddingWire leads beside the same figure for each ad platform.
WeddingWire · architecture
What WeddingWire actually lets you connect
Your storefront sits on weddingwire.com and is managed from the same WeddingPro login as The Knot. Here's what WeddingWire's vendor support center documents.
- 1
Messages tab and lead emails
Each inquiry shows name, event date, phone and email when given, plus send time, and a "New lead from" email arrives too. No export, API, webhook or Zapier app is documented.
- 2
Call Tracking (premium vendors)
A unique WeddingWire number that logs inbound calls in your Analytics and texts you on new leads, which keeps WeddingWire calls apart from ad calls.
- 3
Website field in Contact information
The only link to your site you control. We test whether WeddingWire keeps UTM parameters before relying on them.
- 4
Analytics
Storefront visits, leads, phone number views and website clicks (premium only), with regional benchmarks. Good for trends, not for matching couples.
- 5
Booked flag and Availability
You can mark an inquiry Booked in Messages, and couples can mark you hired, which blocks that date on your Availability calendar if Automatic Updates is on. Neither proves a contract.
- 6
Review Widget, but no Pixel
WeddingWire supplies HTML for a widget that links back to your storefront. Nothing documented puts your own Google or Meta tag on the storefront.
WeddingWire · diagnose
Where WeddingWire tracking breaks, in the order we check
With WeddingWire, the costly fault is usually traffic leaking between your ads and your storefront, not a broken tag.
- 01
Find the Review Widget on your ad landing pages
If it's there, measure how many paid visitors click through to WeddingWire before deciding whether to keep it.
- 02
Check which phone number your storefront shows
A Call Tracking number separates WeddingWire calls; your main number mixes them with ad calls.
- 03
Click your own storefront Website link
See whether GA4 logs weddingwire.com, direct, or your tagged source.
- 04
Match brand-search leads to WeddingWire Messages
A couple who shortlisted you there may search your name next, and your brand ad then takes credit for a WeddingWire lead.
- 05
Strip couple-marked bookings from your counts
Compare WeddingWire's booked list with your signed contracts and remove the ones you never confirmed.

Source of truth
WeddingWire Messages tab and Call Tracking log: inquiries and calls by date and couple, checked against your signed contracts
- A test visit through your storefront's Website link, with the source confirmed in GA4.
- A test form fill from an ad-tagged URL, with the click ID confirmed on the CRM record.
- Every WeddingWire message and tracked call from a closed month present in your CRM, sourced WeddingWire.
- No WeddingWire-sourced couples in any Google Ads or Meta conversion upload.
- Signed contracts matched couple by couple against each ad platform over a closed window.
- Repeated after 30 days, and again whenever the Website field, Call Tracking or widget placement changes.

WeddingWire · when not to buy
When you don't need this on WeddingWire
Plenty of WeddingWire vendors only need a source field and some discipline.
- If you don't run Google or Meta ads, Call Tracking plus a lead source in your CRM is enough to judge WeddingWire.
- If nearly all bookings come through WeddingWire Messages, count contracts from those leads against your subscription.
- If your site has no form and every inquiry goes through WeddingWire, ad platforms have nothing to match, so fix that first.
- If your ad spend is a short pre-season test, add a "How did you hear about us?" question and call us when the budget grows.
WeddingWire · what we deliver
The event map for wedding vendors on WeddingWire
Arrival from your storefront
A session from your WeddingWire Website link, named in GA4 by UTM tag if WeddingWire keeps it, otherwise by referrer. Reported as traffic only.
Review widget or storefront click-out
Recorded when a visitor heads to WeddingWire, with the ad click ID they arrived on. Diagnostic only.
Inquiry on your own site
Your form, holding either an ad click ID or a WeddingWire source. Spam and test entries are dropped before anything is sent.
WeddingWire message or tracked call
Logged in your CRM from the lead email or Call Tracking, sourced WeddingWire with the wedding date. Never sent to ad platforms.
Tour, tasting or consultation held
The qualified step, recorded for every source so close rates can be compared fairly.
Contract signed and deposit paid
The conversion, valued from your contract and uploaded only with that platform's click ID. Couple-marked "hired" flags don't count.
FAQ
WeddingWire questions, answered
Not that we've found. WeddingWire's vendor support center documents no way to add your own code to a storefront, so measurement starts when a couple reaches your website or calls a number you can attribute.
Usually yes, if your plan includes it. A separate WeddingWire number keeps those calls out of your ad call conversions.
No. They didn't start with an ad click, so importing them trains bidding on couples your subscription already found.
It can. On an ad landing page, the widget's link to your storefront lets paid visitors inquire on WeddingWire instead of your form. We measure those click-outs first.
WeddingWire counts clicks on its storefront, GA4 counts sessions on your site, and WeddingWire has said state privacy opt-outs can reduce its reported visits and clicks. Judge the listing on contracts from its leads instead.
Keep them separate. They share a WeddingPro login but run separate storefronts, and splitting them shows which listing books weddings.
