GigSalad conversion tracking: when your inbox is full and Google Ads says zero

Your ad sends a planner to your site, they fill in your GigSalad quote widget, and the request, the booking and the payment all finish inside GigSalad. Google Ads and Meta never learn which click became a paid gig. We save the click on your site, send booked gigs back from your GigSalad records, and keep GigSalad's own marketplace leads out of your bidding.

GigSalad · what breaks

What goes wrong when GigSalad sits behind your ads

  1. 01

"Google Ads shows no leads, but my GigSalad inbox is full"

Widget requests land in your GigSalad inbox, not on a thank-you page your tags can see. Google Ads gets no lead signal, so you keep paying for clicks with no way to tell which campaigns fill your calendar.

  2. 02

"My ads send people to my GigSalad profile"

On GigSalad, "contact others" can request up to five more quotes from similar vendors, on by default for free members. You paid for the click; rival DJs and photo booths quote on it.

  3. 03

"The gig gets paid on GigSalad, so my ads never hear about it"

Clients pay the full amount through GigSalad when they accept. To Meta and Google, a wedding booking and an inquiry that went quiet look identical.

  4. 04

"I can't tell my ad leads from GigSalad's own leads"

Direct leads, GigSalad-matched leads, widget requests and imported outside gigs share one inbox. Origin tags are paid-only and GigSalad says profile visits can include bots, so you can't say which ad dollars booked a wedding and which booked nothing.

GigSalad · the fix

What changes — GigSalad

  • Each widget request carries its ad click

Click ID and source saved first-party when the planner opens your contact page, so the GigSalad lead can be matched to its campaign.

  • Booked gigs report back to the ad platforms

Bookings from your GigSalad records reach Google Ads and Meta with their value, so bidding learns which searches become paid parties and weddings.

  • Cost per booked gig you can compare

Google Ads, Meta and GigSalad's own marketplace side by side, with GigSalad's service fee included in the math.

GigSalad · architecture

What GigSalad actually lets you hook into

Everything below comes from GigSalad's help center. We found no article there on GA4, Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, an API, webhooks or Zapier, so anything beyond this list gets tested on your account, not assumed.

  1. 1

    Quote widget

GigSalad's request form embedded on your site. Requests reach your inbox and are never shown to other vendors. How the code renders isn't documented, so we test whether your tags can see the submit.

  2. 2

    Reviews widget

Up to four GigSalad reviews on your site. Proof, not a conversion point.

  3. 3

    Profile links and badges

Plain links to your GigSalad profile, measured as outbound clicks.

  4. 4

    Lead origin tags

Paid members see which leads came from the widget or an outside booking.

  5. 5

    Book Outside Gig

The client gets your quote by email and pays the full price on GigSalad.

  6. 6

    Client contact details

Emails are never shared. A phone number, when the client gives one, appears after you reply on paid plans, or after booking on any plan.

GigSalad · diagnose

Where GigSalad tracking breaks, in diagnostic order

Start with your own site, because that's the only part of the GigSalad journey your tags can reach.

  1. 01

Send a test request through your quote widget from an ad-tagged URL

Then see what GA4, Google Ads and Meta recorded.

  2. 02

Check where each ad actually lands

Your site or your GigSalad profile, where other vendors can be invited to quote.

  3. 03

Count paid sessions that leave through a GigSalad badge

Each one is a paid planner who left your site.

  4. 04

Line up "Quote widget request" tags against ad conversions

Lead by lead for one closed month; the gap is what your campaigns can't see.

  5. 05

Check whether any booked gig reaches Google or Meta

GigSalad documents no connection that would send them, so this needs an upload from your records.

GigSalad · prove

How we prove GigSalad gigs are counted

Every check starts with a real request submitted through the quote widget on your live site and traced into your GigSalad inbox.

Source of truth

GigSalad inbox and dashboard records: gig leads with their origin tag, quotes sent, and verified bookings with booking dollars

  • One widget request from an ad-tagged URL, click ID saved on your site.
  • That request found in your GigSalad inbox with the quote widget tag.
  • The booked gig uploaded once each to Google Ads and Meta at the booking total.
  • A badge click recorded as outbound, with no conversion fired.
  • A GigSalad search lead confirmed absent from every ad conversion.
  • A cancelled gig retracted in Google Ads, and the full match rechecked 30 days later.

GigSalad · free audit

What we check in the free audit

  • Send a test request through your quote widget from an ad-tagged URL
  • Check where each ad actually lands
  • Count paid sessions that leave through a GigSalad badge
  • Line up "Quote widget request" tags against ad conversions
  • Check whether any booked gig reaches Google or Meta

GigSalad · when not to buy

When you don't need this on GigSalad

Plenty of DJs, food trucks and party entertainers on GigSalad have nothing here worth paying us for.

  • If you don't run ads and every gig comes from GigSalad search, there's no spend to steer. Work on response speed instead.
  • If your ads point at your GigSalad profile and you won't move them, there's no page of yours to measure, and we'll say so.
  • If you book a few gigs a month and the paid origin tags already show which came through your widget, a spreadsheet may do.
  • If ad leads skip GigSalad and book through your own form and payments, the work belongs on those tools.

GigSalad · what we deliver

The event map on GigSalad

  • Ad visit stored

gclid, fbclid and UTMs saved in a first-party cookie on your site before the planner reaches the widget.

  • Quote widget request

The lead event, built only once a test proves the submit is detectable; otherwise contact-page engagement plus inbox reconciliation.

  • Click out to your GigSalad profile

Tracked from badges and text links as a leak, never as a conversion.

  • Quote sent and client replied

The qualified stage, logged from your GigSalad inbox.

  • Gig booked and paid on GigSalad

The conversion, valued at the booking total, uploaded with the saved click ID plus the client's phone if they shared one, which GigSalad releases after booking.

  • Excluded or reversed

Marketplace leads from GigSalad search and matching stay out; a cancelled gig is retracted in Google Ads and removed from the Meta booking totals we report.

FAQ

GigSalad questions, answered

We haven't found any GigSalad documentation for adding your own tags to a profile. It gives you a quote widget, a reviews widget and profile links for your own site, so measurement happens there.
