Broadly fills your inbox. Your ad accounts still can't tell which clicks did it.
Broadly answers the website chat, texts back the missed call and asks for the review after the job. None of that tells Google Ads or Meta which ad brought the customer in, so bidding guesses. We wire Broadly's chat events, forms and automations to your ad accounts, then send completed jobs from Jobber, ServiceTitan, Tekmetric or Gingr back as the conversion that counts.

Broadly · what breaks
What goes wrong with Broadly and paid ads
- 01
"Google Ads shows a pile of chat conversions. Broadly shows a handful of leads."
Broadly's widget pushes four events, including opening and closing the window. Put the conversion on the wrong one and Smart Bidding spends your budget chasing people who only peeked at the chat bubble.
- 02
"The AI picked up, but which ad made the phone ring?"
Calls reach Broadly through one Conversations number, often forwarded from your main line. Nothing on the call says it came from an ad, so your best campaign gets no credit.
- 03
"The ROI report looks great. I don't believe it."
Broadly's advertising report pulls conversions from Google Ads, Facebook Ads or GA4; its docs describe reading those numbers, not creating them. If the actions underneath are miscounted, the ROI figure repeats the error with a nicer chart.
- 04
"We know who paid. The ad platforms never hear about it."
Broadly's automations can already fire when a Jobber job completes or a Tekmetric repair order posts, and plenty of shops use that moment to ask for a review. Your ads never hear about it, so they keep optimizing for chats instead of paid work.
Broadly · the fix
What changes once it's fixed — Broadly
Chat and form leads tied to the click
Each Broadly lead carries the click ID or UTM it arrived with, so you can see which campaign, keyword or Meta ad set produced it.
Bidding learns from completed jobs
Finished jobs and paid invoices flow back to Google Ads and Meta through a first-party server, with a value attached where your software provides one.
Broadly's report stops flattering you
With clean conversion actions underneath, the ROI line in your Broadly executive report reflects real leads and finished jobs instead of chat-bubble clicks.
Broadly · architecture
What Broadly actually lets you hook into
Broadly runs on Business App from its parent company, Vendasta, and those docs describe the hooks. Here's what we found and what we still test.
- 1
Web chat dataLayer events
The widget pushes start chat, lead captured, send message and open/close events to GTM. Names are fixed, and the widget has to load after your container.
- 2
Forms with URL-filled hidden fields
Fields can be hidden and filled from a URL query parameter, and UTM fields are built in. Click IDs need their own hidden field.
- 3
Automations with a Send a webhook step
Triggers include a web chat lead, a form submission, an AI receptionist call, an opportunity change, and job-completed events from Jobber, ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro. The step sends a custom JSON body to a webhook URL; the docs show Zapier, and we confirm whether it posts straight to your server or relays through Zapier.
- 4
Zapier in both directions
Documented for pushing Broadly data out or firing an automation from another app.
- 5
Advertising report reads, never sends
It pulls conversions from Google Ads, Facebook Ads or GA4. We found no documented offline import or Meta Conversions API sending, so that runs through our server.
Broadly · diagnose
Where Broadly tracking breaks, in the order we check
Most Broadly accounts fail one of the first two checks.
- 01
Which chat event is the conversion?
In Google Ads and GA4, confirm it's lead captured, not start chat or the open/close click.
- 02
Does GTM load before the Broadly widget?
Broadly's docs require the widget to load after your container. If the chat script or WordPress plugin loads first, the chat events can miss the dataLayer entirely.
- 03
Does the click ID survive to the contact?
Submit a form from an ad URL, then open the contact. UTMs vanish if the visitor clicks to a second page first.
- 04
Can calls be tied to ads at all?
Check whether ads show the Conversations number, your main line or a tracking number, and which one forwards where.
- 05
Is your job software connected?
Confirm the integration shows Connected rather than Pending, so completed jobs can trigger the conversion.

Source of truth
Broadly CRM contacts and opportunities with their lead source, plus completed jobs in the connected field service or shop software
- A test chat from a Google Ads URL fires one lead-captured conversion and creates one Broadly contact.
- A form sent from a Meta ad link shows the fbclid and UTMs on the contact.
- Chat opens recorded in GA4 as engagement, absent from Google Ads conversions.
- A completed job sent once to Google Ads and Meta, deduplicated on a shared event ID.
- Broadly leads reconciled against each platform over a closed window, then again 30 days later.

Broadly · when not to buy
When you don't need us for Broadly
Plenty of Broadly users are fine as they are.
- If you don't run paid ads and leads come from your Google Business Profile and referrals, Broadly's lead source report is enough.
- If Broadly's team runs your ads and you can show us that conversions match your CRM, keep it.
- If chat is your only paid lead channel and the conversion already sits on lead captured, a quick GTM check may be all it takes.
- If nearly all your Broadly activity is review requests to existing customers, there's no ad attribution to fix.
Broadly · what we deliver
The event map on Broadly
Chat lead captured
Fires on inbx_web_chat_lead_captured only. Chat opens, closes and individual messages are tracked as engagement, never as conversions.
Form submitted
Broadly CRM form with gclid, fbclid and UTM values written into hidden fields from the landing URL.
Ad-driven call
Calls counted only when a tracked number or Google call conversion ties them to a click. Calls from your Google Business Profile stay out of paid reporting.
Qualified opportunity
Opportunity created or moved in Broadly's CRM, sent server-side so spam chats and wrong-number calls drop out.
Estimate or appointment booked
A booking made by the AI receptionist or through a Broadly booking link, matched back to the original lead.
Job completed or paid
The money event, from your connected software. Repeat customers reached by review requests or email campaigns are excluded from acquisition.
Written guarantee
95%+ tracking accuracy
Measured against Broadly CRM contacts and opportunities with their lead source, plus completed jobs in the connected field service or shop software. Miss it and we keep working at no cost.

FAQ
Broadly questions, answered
No. Broadly's advertising report reads conversion numbers from Google Ads, Facebook Ads or GA4, but its documentation doesn't describe sending conversions to them. The tracking has to be set up in GTM and your ad accounts.
Lead captured, the inbx_web_chat_lead_captured event. It fires when the chat collects contact details. Start chat and open/close fire far more often and will inflate your numbers.
Not by itself. The Conversations number is a single line, so you need a tracking number or Google call conversions in front of it to connect a call to a click.
Not directly, but its automations can post a webhook when a Jobber job completes or a Tekmetric repair order posts. We route that through a first-party server to Google Ads and the Meta Conversions API.
No. Review requests keep running off the same triggers. We just stop those repeat-customer contacts from being counted as new ad leads.
