Your Podium inbox is full. Your ads can't tell which chats paid.
Podium Webchat starts on your website, then moves to text messages and leaves the ad click behind. Calls ring your Podium number with no ad source, and the money arrives days later through a text-to-pay invoice. We connect all three so Google Ads and Meta learn from customers who paid, not people who tapped the chat bubble.

Podium · what breaks
What goes wrong with Podium and your ads
- 01
Every bubble click looks like a lead
Podium's widget fires Bubble Clicked when someone opens it and Conversation Started only when a lead is actually sent. Count the first, and Google Ads bids up the browsers who never typed a name.
- 02
The ad trail ends when the chat goes to text
Once the visitor sends their details, Podium carries the conversation on by text. Its conversation record has no campaign or click field, so an appliance repair shop can't see which ad booked the job, and the campaign that only looks busy keeps its budget.
- 03
Calls to your Podium number have no ad source
Podium Phones logs duration, status and whether its AI answered, not which ad made the phone ring. Missed calls and booked jobs look the same to your ad accounts, so you can't cut the keyword that only produces hang-ups.
- 04
Text-to-pay revenue never reaches your ad accounts
For an auto repair shop or collision center, the sale is the invoice link paid after the work. Without it, Meta and Google value an oil change and a body repair the same.
Podium · the fix
What changes — Podium
Bidding trained on paid Podium invoices
Google Ads and Meta get the paid amount, tied to the click or the customer's hashed phone, so budget follows paying customers.
Every Podium contact labeled with its source
Click ID and UTMs saved as contact attributes, visible in the inbox your team already uses.
Past customers kept out of new-lead counts
Review-invite and text-campaign replies stop posing as fresh ad leads.
Podium · architecture
What Podium actually lets you hook into
Everything below comes from Podium's own help center and developer docs. Where they're silent, it's listed as something we check.
- 1
Webchat data layer events
Podium's help center documents a GTM setup on an eventAction variable: Bubble Clicked when the widget opens, Conversation Started when a lead is sent.
- 2
Webhooks for contacts, messages and invoices
Including contact.created, message.received, invoice.payment_created and invoice.marked_as_paid, each needing a token with the matching scope from a user on your account.
- 3
Developer account and API
An approved developer account and an OAuth app, authorized by a user on an account with Podium Platform access, can read calls, conversations and invoices and upsert contacts with custom attributes and tags. We confirm your plan includes that access.
- 4
Zapier triggers
New Paid Invoice and New Refunded Invoice. The paid trigger fires on link payments only, not invoices staff mark paid.
- 5
No native ad platform connection
No Google Ads, Meta Pixel or Conversions API integration appears in Podium's docs, and call records carry no ad source. We confirm your plan hasn't changed that.
Podium · diagnose
Where Podium tracking breaks, in the order we check
Start with webchat. It's the only part of Podium that runs on your own site, so it's the only place the ad click can still be read.
- 01
Which Podium event your Google Ads conversion uses
Bubble Clicked inflates leads; Conversation Started means details were sent.
- 02
Whether the Podium script loads twice
A WordPress plugin plus a pasted snippet can double every push.
- 03
Whether the click survives the move to text
Open the contact from a test chat. Expect no campaign data until we add it.
- 04
How calls to the Podium number reach Google Ads
Forwarding number, call asset or nothing, with AI-handled and missed calls split out.
- 05
How jobs get marked paid
Cash and check jobs marked paid by hand fire invoice.marked_as_paid, not a link payment, and need their own path.
Podium · prove
The QA evidence — Podium
Run on your live website from ad-tagged links, with a real text-to-pay invoice, never on a Podium demo account.
Source of truth
Podium records: new webchat conversations, inbound calls by status, and paid or refunded invoices with amounts
- One test chat each from a Google-tagged and a Meta-tagged link, with the click ID on the Podium contact.
- One lead conversion per Conversation Started, checked in Tag Assistant and Events Manager.
- A test invoice paid by text link, landing in both platforms with the same amount.
- A refund on that invoice reversing the value everywhere.
- Missed and AI-abandoned calls absent from conversions.
- Paid invoices reconciled against both platforms over a closed month.
- Repeated 30 days later and after any Podium widget or site change.

Podium · when not to buy
When you don't need this on Podium
Plenty of Podium accounts are fine as they are.
- If your ads drive phone calls almost exclusively and Google's own call reporting already matches your answered calls, the Podium side adds little.
- If most Podium threads come from review invites and text campaigns to past customers, you have a retention tool, not an ad-tracking problem.
- If you collect payment in your shop management or field service software rather than Podium invoices, revenue should be tracked there instead.
- If the only fault is Bubble Clicked set as your conversion, switching it to Conversation Started is a quick fix and we'll tell you how to do it yourself.
Podium · what we deliver
The event map on Podium
Webchat conversation started
The lead event, from Podium's Conversation Started push, with the landing-page click ID. Bubble Clicked stays engagement only.
Inbound call answered
Answered inbound calls past a duration you pick. Missed, blocked and internal calls excluded.
Contact qualified
Fired when your team adds an agreed tag to the Podium contact.
Invoice sent
invoice.created as a quote-stage signal for reporting, never a bidding target.
Invoice paid
invoice.payment_created with its amount, linked through the conversation to the contact's stored click.
Refunds and repeat threads
Refunds reverse the value; failed payments and existing-customer threads stay out of acquisition.
Written guarantee
95%+ tracking accuracy
Measured against Podium records: new webchat conversations, inbound calls by status, and paid or refunded invoices with amounts. Miss it and we keep working at no cost.

FAQ
Podium questions, answered
Not directly, going by Podium's own docs. Its webchat pushes GTM events you can turn into a Google Ads conversion, and its webhooks can feed paid invoices back as offline conversions with some building.
Yes. Podium documents a GTM setup with Bubble Clicked and Conversation Started triggers on an eventAction variable. Use Conversation Started as the lead.
The chat moves to SMS and Podium's conversation record has no click field. The click has to be captured on your site and attached to the contact, or matched later on the hashed phone number.
Yes, once the paid-invoice webhook is forwarded to Meta's Conversions API with the amount and hashed customer details. Podium doesn't send it on its own.
No. The call record shows your location number, duration and AI handling, but no ad source, so calls need Google's call tracking or a tracking number in front.
Only if replies get counted as leads. Review invites go to existing customers, so we keep those threads out of the conversions your campaigns learn from.
