GatherUpReviews and messaging

Your ads count form fills. GatherUp already knows who actually paid.

Most customers land in GatherUp after the sale: a BCC'd receipt, a Zap off a paid QuickBooks invoice, a completed Jobber job. Right now that record does one thing, which is send a review request. Fixed means the same record tells Google Ads and Meta which ad clicks became paying customers, and past customers coming back through your GatherUp texts stop counting as new leads.

GatherUp · what breaks

What goes wrong when GatherUp sits next to your ads

  1. 01

Your best proof of a real customer never reaches your ads

GatherUp usually gets a customer after the sale, through the BCC on your receipts, a Google Sheet it imports every hour, a CSV upload or a Zap like QuickBooks invoice paid or a completed Square payment. Google Ads and Meta never see that moment, so if your conversion is a form fill, Smart Bidding keeps buying more of the tire-kickers who never pay.

  2. 02

Past customers come back and your ads take the credit

GatherUp SMS campaigns send offers and reminders to customers who opted in. If an offer links to your booking page untagged and that person clicked one of your Google ads in the last 30 days (Google's default window), Google Ads can count their repeat booking as a new conversion. You end up scaling campaigns on revenue you already had.

  3. 03

Texts from the Web-to-Text widget may never count as leads

GatherUp lists a Web-to-Text Widget, but we found nothing in its public docs about a Pixel or Google tag event for it. If a bankruptcy client or a hardscaping prospect texts you through it after an ad click, your campaigns may never learn that lead existed.

  4. 04

Maps traffic and paid traffic land in the same bucket

GatherUp Listings keeps your business details accurate across 150+ directories, maps and AI platforms such as Google, Apple Maps, Facebook and Bing, and asks for your website before it syncs. Its pages never mention UTM tags, so if the website link on those listings is your bare homepage, Business Profile visits blend into organic traffic in GA4 and you can't cleanly compare what the ads produce against what Maps brings in.

GatherUp · the fix

What changes after the fix — GatherUp

  • Ads learn from paying customers

The trigger that already feeds GatherUp also sends a paid-customer conversion to Google Ads offline import and Meta's Conversions API, matched to the click captured when that person first inquired.

  • Repeat business stops posing as acquisition

Links in your GatherUp SMS campaigns and Conversion Pop-up carry their own tags, so new-lead conversions and cost per lead only reflect people you didn't already have.

  • Every channel GatherUp touches is labeled

Listings links carry their own tags, Web-to-Text leads get an event where the widget allows it, and you get a written list of what GatherUp code runs on your site and why.

GatherUp · architecture

What GatherUp actually lets you hook into

GatherUp's integrations page lists no Google Analytics, Google Ads or Meta integration. These are the hooks its own pages describe.

  1. 1

    Zapier triggers and action

New Customer, Positive Feedback and Negative Feedback triggers, plus a Create Customer action. When your Zap adds customers on payment, a New Customer event follows from the sale itself, and we confirm the timing in your account.

  2. 2

    Webhooks

GatherUp can POST events such as new feedback as JSON to your endpoint. Setup goes through GatherUp support, and new feedback is the only event it names, so we confirm what your account can send.

  3. 3

    REST API

Bearer token plus client ID. GatherUp lists the API among its automated ways to add customers, so a CRM or POS can push them in.

  4. 4

Universal Email Integration and Google Sheets

BCC on transactional emails or an hourly-synced sheet. Both mean the source record lives somewhere else first, which is where we read it.

  5. 5

    Website embeds

The review widget and badge display reviews on your site, and the Conversion Pop-up uses embed code pasted site-wide that links to a URL you choose. We check what each one loads and where it sends people.

GatherUp · diagnose

Where tracking around GatherUp breaks, in the order we check

GatherUp documents no ad conversion events of its own. The damage comes from the traffic it sends back to your site and the sales it knows about that your ads don't.

  1. 01

Find which record creates GatherUp customers

If it's a paid invoice or completed job, that's the conversion your ads are missing.

  2. 02

Click a live SMS campaign link and follow a review invite end to end

See where each one lands, and whether any visit reaches your site untagged where your Pixel treats it like a new prospect.

  3. 03

Check where the Conversion Pop-up points

A pop-up linking off-site can pull paid visitors away from your quote form.

  4. 04

Send a test text through the Web-to-Text widget

Confirm whether anything on the page registers it as a lead.

  5. 05

Open the website link GatherUp Listings publishes

Bare homepage or tagged URL, on Google and the other major listings.

Source of truth

GatherUp's customer list, checked against the paid invoices, completed jobs or won deals that created each customer

  • One test inquiry from an ad-tagged URL, with the click ID confirmed on the CRM or billing record.
  • That record marked paid, then seen once in Google Ads offline conversions and once in Meta Events Manager.
  • An SMS campaign click and a Conversion Pop-up click confirmed absent from new-lead conversions.
  • A Web-to-Text test conversation recorded as exactly one lead, or documented as untrackable.
  • Paid customers reconciled one by one against both ad platforms over a closed month.
  • The same reconciliation repeated 30 days later.

GatherUp · when not to buy

When you don't need us for GatherUp

Plenty of GatherUp accounts sit happily next to ads that are already tracked well.

  • If you don't run paid ads and GatherUp is only there for Google reviews, there's nothing for us to fix.
  • If your CRM already sends closed or paid customers to Google Ads and Meta, GatherUp adds no new signal.
  • If you never send SMS campaigns and your review invites only link to Google or Facebook, the returning-customer problem is small.
  • If almost all your work comes from referrals and walk-ins, review volume will matter more to you than ad attribution.

GatherUp · what we deliver

The event map around GatherUp

  • New inquiry

Your form, call or booking, captured with the ad click ID on your site, because GatherUp never sees the inquiry itself.

  • Web-to-Text conversation started

Its own lead event, but only after a live test confirms what the widget lets us detect on the page.

  • Qualified lead

Marked in your CRM, such as HubSpot or Pipedrive, when intake confirms a real job or case.

  • Paid customer

The paid invoice, completed job or won deal that also creates the GatherUp customer. This is the conversion bidding learns from, valued where your records hold an amount.

  • SMS campaign and pop-up visits

Tagged as returning-customer traffic and excluded from new-lead conversions and prospecting audiences.

  • Feedback and ratings

Positive and negative feedback stay in GatherUp's reporting. Never sent to an ad platform as a lead or a purchase.

FAQ

GatherUp questions, answered

Not that its own pages document. GatherUp lists Zapier, webhooks and a REST API, and Facebook shows up only as a review site and a Listings destination, so getting customer data to your ads takes a separate connection.
