NicheDirectories and marketplaces

Families say they found you on Niche. Your ad reports say Google did.

A parent reads reviews on your Niche profile, clicks through to your site, then searches your school's name and taps your branded Google ad before filling out the inquiry form. Google Ads counts that inquiry, the Niche Pixel counts the visit to your thank-you page, and your enrollment system may receive the same family again as a Niche Parent Lead. We give each inquiry one source and send Google Ads and Meta only the families their own clicks brought in, with tours, applications and enrollments attached.

Niche · what breaks

What goes wrong when Niche sits next to your ads

  1. 01

    Branded search taking Niche's credit

Families who made up their minds on Niche still search your school's name before inquiring, so your branded Google Ads campaign claims them and looks cheaper than it is. You keep paying for clicks from people who were already coming.

  2. 02

The same family counted two or three times

A Niche Parent Lead lands in Ravenna, Finalsite or Blackbaud, then the parent fills out your website form after an ad click, and both show up as new inquiries. Cost per inquiry looks better than reality, and nobody trusts the totals at the enrollment meeting.

  3. 03

    Prospects treated like hand-raisers

Niche's Cross Interest and Custom Prospects are students Niche matches to you because they saved competing schools or fit criteria you set, not students who raised a hand for yours. If they import into Slate as new leads and that stage feeds your ad conversions, Google Ads and Meta learn from students who never asked about your school.

  4. 04

Niche Pixel numbers that don't match enrollment

The Niche Pixel reports actions like request-for-information and application page visits by Niche users. A page visit isn't an application, so Niche's report and your enrollment count drift apart and the renewal decision becomes a guess.

Niche · the fix

What changes — Niche

  • Every family has one source

Niche-delivered records, niche.com referral visits and ad-click inquiries are labeled separately in your enrollment system and merged per family.

  • Ads learn from the families they found

Google Ads and Meta receive inquiries, tours, applications and enrollments only from their own clicks, with the click ID carried from your site form into the enrollment record.

  • An honest cost per enrolled student

Niche, Google Ads and Meta compared on the enrollments each produced, so the Niche renewal and next term's ad budget come from the same numbers.

Niche · architecture

What Niche actually gives you to work with

Niche is a profile and lead source, not a tool for measuring your ads. These are the hooks Niche's own material, Slate's documentation and Google's GA4 help describe; anything else we check on your account.

  1. 1

Lead delivery into your enrollment system

For K-12 Parent Leads, Niche describes direct connections to Ravenna, Finalsite Enrollment Management and Blackbaud Enrollment Management, with a weekly CSV file for schools on other systems.

  2. 2

    Slate import over SFTP

Slate documents Niche Leads and Niche Prospects as two separate CSV source formats dropped into your SFTP folders and keyed on a Niche user ID.

  3. 3

    GA4 referral traffic

Untagged clicks from your Niche profile show in GA4 as niche.com / referral. GA4 treats UTM values as case-sensitive, so a mix of tagged and untagged Niche links splits that traffic across several source rows.

  4. 4

    The Niche Pixel

Niche's own tag, placed through Google Tag Manager on conversion pages such as a thank-you page, reporting conversions from Niche users and Niche's ads back to Niche.

  5. 5

No click IDs or ad-account connection

Nothing we found in Niche's material passes Google or Meta click IDs or sends conversions to your ad accounts, so that half is built on your site and in your enrollment records.

Niche · diagnose

Where Niche tracking breaks, in diagnostic order

Start with duplicates, because with Niche the usual fault is one family claimed by more than one channel rather than a family missed.

  1. 01

Match Niche records against website inquiries

By email, across last month, to count families sitting in both lists.

  2. 02

Check whether Prospects import as leads

Especially in Slate, where Leads and Prospects arrive as separate files.

  3. 03

    Open niche.com / referral in GA4

Confirm it isn't split by stray or inconsistently cased UTM tags on your profile links.

  4. 04

Find what the Niche Pixel fires on

Locate the tag in your container and list the pages that trigger it.

  5. 05

Test a website inquiry from an ad click

Confirm the click ID reaches the record in your enrollment system.

  6. 06

Compare branded-search conversions with Niche visits

Use GA4 to see how many branded-ad inquirers came from Niche first.

Niche · prove

The QA evidence — Niche

Run on a real inquiry through your live site and a real Niche-delivered record, not a staff test that stops short of your enrollment system.

Source of truth

Your enrollment system's inquiry, application and enrollment records (Ravenna, Finalsite, Blackbaud, Slate or your CRM), with one source set per family

  • One inquiry from an ad-tagged URL, with the click ID confirmed on the enrollment record.
  • One Niche-delivered record confirmed with source Niche and no ad conversion sent for it.
  • A family present in both channels merged into one record with one source.
  • Niche Prospects confirmed absent from every ad-platform conversion.
  • A closed month of applications and enrollments matched per family to Google Ads and Meta conversions.
  • GA4 niche.com / referral sessions compared with click totals in Niche's partner report.
  • Repeated 30 days later and again when the next enrollment season opens.

Niche · when not to buy

When you don't need this for Niche

Plenty of schools with a Niche profile already have numbers that tell the truth.

  • If you don't run Google Ads or Meta, Niche's partner report and GA4's referral line are enough; there are no ads to over-credit.
  • If your Niche profile doesn't include lead delivery, the only Niche signal is referral traffic, and GA4 already labels it.
  • If your enrollment system already sets a Niche source and your ad conversions come only from your own form with click IDs, a one-off check will do, and we'll tell you so.
  • If you enroll a handful of students a year, a monthly spreadsheet by source answers the budget question faster than a build.

Niche · what we deliver

The event map with Niche in the mix

  • niche.com referral visit

Sessions GA4 labels niche.com / referral, kept as a Niche touch and never counted as a conversion.

  • Niche Parent Lead or Inquiry received

Logged with source Niche from the integration, SFTP file or CSV, and matched to any existing family before it counts.

  • Website inquiry from an ad click

Your own form, with the Google click ID or Meta click and browser IDs saved on the record. This is the lead the ad platforms see.

  • Tour or info session booked

The qualified stage, sent to Google Ads and Meta for ad-sourced families only.

  • Application submitted, then enrolled

The conversions that matter, imported from your enrollment system and valued by program.

  • Excluded: Prospects, duplicates and tests

Cross Interest and Custom Prospects, repeat inquiries from the same family and staff test entries never reach an ad platform.

FAQ

Niche questions, answered

Not usefully. A Niche lead starts on niche.com, not with a click on your ad, so there's no Google click ID to match, and importing it would hand your campaigns credit for families Niche found.
