Your Joist estimates get signed. Google Ads never finds out.

Joist emails the client a link, or opens your texting app with one, and they tap Sign on the Joist document, not your website. Google Ads and Meta stop at the form fill or the call, so they can't tell a drywall patch from a whole-house repaint. We tie each signed Joist estimate to the ad click that started it and report it at the quoted total, so budget follows the jobs that close.

Joist · what breaks

What goes wrong when Joist runs your estimates

  1. 01

“Google says the leads are pouring in. My signed jobs aren't.”

The signature happens on the Joist document, which your ad tags never see, so Smart Bidding keeps buying whatever fills the form, tire-kickers included.

  2. 02

“The AI Receptionist books calls, but from where?”

Its call history gives you a name, number, address, recording and transcript. Nothing Joist documents says which ad, keyword or Facebook campaign got that homeowner to dial.

  3. 03

    “Customer Source just says Google.”

Joist's Customer Source field, on Elite, is a note you type by hand. “Google” lumps Maps, organic, Local Services and paid clicks together, so you can't cut the campaign that's losing money.

  4. 04

“A full exterior and a small repair count the same.”

The deposit lands in Joist Payments through PayPal or Stripe, and the ad platforms never get the job value, so they bid as hard for small fix-ups as for your best work.

Joist · the fix

What changes — Joist

  • Ads judged on signed estimates

A conversion fires when a Joist estimate is signed, valued at its total, not on every inquiry.

  • Every phone lead has a campaign

Calls are tracked before they reach your line or the AI Receptionist, then matched to the Joist client by phone number.

  • Bids lean toward the bigger jobs

With real estimate values coming back, bidding favors the repaints, stucco repairs and built-ins that pay the bills.

Joist · architecture

What Joist actually lets you hook into

Joist is built for quoting and getting paid, not for marketing data. Here's what its help center documents.

  1. 1

Estimate link by email or text

Joist emails the client for you, or opens your texting app with a link. The client signs on a Joist page, and Joist doesn't document any spot to add your own tags there.

  2. 2

    Opened, viewed and signed alerts

On Joist Pro, push notifications fire when a client opens the email, views the document or signs it. They reach your phone, not an ad platform.

  3. 3

    Monthly CSV export

Number, client, totals, dates and payment received less refunds. No status column, so signed status gets confirmed another way.

  4. 4

    QuickBooks Online sync

Estimates and invoices sync to QuickBooks Online, a steadier feed than monthly exports once we confirm what carries over.

  5. 5

    AI Receptionist call history

Name, phone, address, recording and transcript per call, with summaries emailed or texted to the contacts you set.

  6. 6

    No documented ad connections

Joist's help center documents no Zapier, API, webhook, Google Ads, GA4 or Meta connection, so ad reporting gets built around it.

Joist · diagnose

Where Joist tracking breaks, in diagnostic order

Most of the damage happens before the estimate exists, so we start at the click.

  1. 01

Does the click ID survive to the Joist client?

Submit a test lead from an ad-tagged URL and see whether anything about the ad reaches the person you'd quote.

  2. 02

Does the caller's number survive forwarding to the AI Receptionist?

We place one test call through the tracked number and check that the same caller number shows in Joist's call history.

  3. 03

Are phone and email entered the same way in Joist?

Those are the match keys. A missing email or a typo'd number breaks the join.

  4. 04

    What's in Customer Source?

Blank or vague values tell us how much has been guessed so far.

  5. 05

    Is any job counted twice?

An estimate converted to an invoice, or a re-sent copy, shouldn't count as a second sale.

Joist · prove

The QA evidence — Joist

Done with a real estimate sent from your Joist account to a test client, signed through the actual emailed link.

Source of truth

Joist estimate and invoice records: signed estimates by date with client, total and deposit received, from the monthly export and QuickBooks Online where synced

  • A test lead from an ad-tagged URL, with the click ID confirmed against the Joist client it became.
  • A test call through the AI Receptionist, matched to its tracked number by caller phone.
  • One signed estimate showing once in Google Ads and once in Meta, at the estimate total.
  • The converted invoice and its deposit confirmed not to create a second conversion.
  • Signed estimates reconciled one by one against both ad platforms over a closed month.
  • The same check run again 30 days later.

Joist · when not to buy

When you don't need this on Joist

Plenty of Joist users don't need us.

  • If your work comes from referrals and repeat clients and you don't run Google or Meta ads, there's nothing to attribute.
  • If you sign a handful of estimates a month and remember how every client found you, a column in your own spreadsheet is enough.
  • If your paid leads come only from Angi, Thumbtack or Local Services Ads, those platforms' own lead reports matter more than this build.
  • If another CRM already sends closed jobs to Google Ads and Joist just prints the paperwork, keep the system you have.

Joist · what we deliver

The event map on Joist

  • Website lead with click ID

Form fill or tracked call, with the Google click ID, Meta click ID and UTMs stored alongside the homeowner's phone and email.

  • AI Receptionist call captured

Matched to the tracked call by caller number, so each call in Joist's call history picks up a campaign in your records.

  • Estimate sent

Logged when the estimate goes out to that Joist client, as a leading signal that bidding never aims at.

  • Estimate signed

The main conversion, valued at the Joist estimate total and sent to Google Ads and Meta from your records.

  • Deposit paid

A second value signal taken from payment received less refunds, for jobs that put money down.

  • Excluded on purpose

Repeat clients, re-sent or duplicated estimates, the invoice that follows an already-counted estimate, and test documents.

FAQ

Joist questions, answered

Not according to Joist's help center. It documents QuickBooks Online sync, PayPal and Stripe payments and financing, but no Google Ads, GA4 or Meta connection, so we capture the click on your site and upload signed estimates ourselves.
