Your Grasshopper number rings your cell all day. Your ads can't tell which calls turned into jobs.
Grasshopper forwards your business number to your cell, but its features list no connection to Google Ads, GA4 or Meta, and Grasshopper itself says it has no public API and doesn't integrate directly with other platforms. So your campaigns get credit for button taps, or for nothing. We route ad calls through numbers Google can see, match them to Grasshopper's call records, and send only callers who became customers back to Google and Meta.

Grasshopper · what breaks
What goes wrong when Grasshopper is your business line
- 01
"Google says the ads don't work, but my phone won't stop ringing"
A caller sees your ad, dials your Grasshopper number and books a deep clean or a reglazing job by phone. Grasshopper never tells Google, so the campaign that filled your week reports zero conversions and gets cut.
- 02
"Every call looks the same on my cell"
Ad calls, Business Profile calls, repeat customers and robocalls all forward through one Grasshopper number to the same phone. With one number everywhere, you can't see which source paid for which call.
- 03
"Facebook keeps sending clicks that never call"
A phone call isn't a web event, so the Meta Pixel can't see it, and Grasshopper has nothing to report it with. Meta optimizes for page visitors, who for a caterer or a bail bonds office are rarely the people who call.
- 04
"I missed it, texted back, and booked them two days later"
Grasshopper's Instant Response automatically texts new callers when you can't pick up, and the job often closes in that thread. No ad platform links that booking to the click, so your best ads look like your worst.
Grasshopper · the fix
What changes after we fix it — Grasshopper
Google learns which calls paid
Ad calls ring through Google forwarding numbers into your Grasshopper line, and the ones that became customers are imported back, so Smart Bidding chases bookings instead of short calls.
Meta finally hears about phone customers
Qualified Grasshopper callers go to Meta's Conversions API with a hashed phone number, so your lead campaigns stop optimizing for page views.
You can see which channel each call came from
Ads, Business Profile and print each get their own source, so the monthly report says where the work came from. Extra Grasshopper numbers cost extra, so we only add one where it answers a real question.
Grasshopper · architecture
What Grasshopper actually lets you hook into
Not much. Grasshopper is built to make a small business sound established, not to report to ad platforms, so tracking is built around it.
- 1
The Detail Report
Run by an account admin. Grasshopper's help center lists date and time, the Grasshopper number, duration, caller ID, connecting number, extension, direction and call type. Past reports come in 90-day ranges, and data older than two years is gone.
- 2
Call history in the apps
Calls show under Messages & Calls in the web portal and in the Grasshopper apps. We confirm how far back that history goes on your account. Fine for spot checks, not automation.
- 3
Forwarded caller ID
We confirm whether your cell shows the caller's number or your Grasshopper number on forwarded calls, because that changes what you can tag on the spot.
- 4
No public API or native integrations
Grasshopper's own site says it has no public API and no third-party CRM integrations, its blog says it doesn't directly integrate with other platforms, and its features page lists no Google, Meta or Zapier connection.
- 5
Google forwarding numbers in front of your line
Google's website call tracking swaps your displayed number for a forwarding number for ad visitors, and Google's call reporting logs caller number and call start time on calls over 15 seconds. Google requires these forwarding numbers for call conversion imports.
Grasshopper · diagnose
Where Grasshopper tracking breaks, in the order we check
Start with what Google can and can't see, because on most Grasshopper accounts the ad platform has never received a single call.
- 01
Check whether any call conversion exists in Google Ads
Often the only one is a tel: tap, or a stale import that stopped months ago.
- 02
Count the places your Grasshopper number is published
One number everywhere means ad calls and organic calls can't be split without forwarding numbers.
- 03
Place a test call from an ad-tagged visit
Confirm the forwarding number shows, rings your Grasshopper line, and that the Detail Report row shows the real caller rather than the Google number.
- 04
Compare qualified callers with reported conversions
Call by call over a closed week, with spam, vendors and existing customers removed.
- 05
Trace the missed-call text threads
Jobs closed after an Instant Response text need to be tied back to the original call before they're counted.

Source of truth
Grasshopper Detail Report — inbound calls by date and time, with caller ID, Grasshopper number, extension, duration and call type
- One test call from an ad-tagged visit, found in both Google's call details and the Grasshopper Detail Report.
- Caller ID and start time matching on every imported row, with the time zone set explicitly.
- One Meta phone_call event per qualified Grasshopper caller, no duplicates, visible in Events Manager within the seven-day window.
- Spam, vendor and repeat-customer calls confirmed absent from both platforms.
- Qualified callers in the Detail Report reconciled one by one against both platforms over a week that has fully closed.
- Booked and paid values checked against your own job records.
- Rechecked after 30 days, and again whenever a Grasshopper number, extension or forwarding rule changes.

Grasshopper · when not to buy
When you don't need this on Grasshopper
Plenty of Grasshopper accounts are better off without a build.
- If you don't run paid ads and most calls come from referrals or repeat customers, Grasshopper's own reports already tell you enough.
- If you spend a small amount on one Google campaign and Google's call reporting already shows calls that match your log, leave it alone.
- If almost every lead books online rather than calling, fix the booking or form tracking first.
- If nobody will mark which callers were real prospects, even for a few seconds a call, the loop has nothing reliable to send, and we'll say so.
Grasshopper · what we deliver
The event map on Grasshopper
Call button tapped
A tel: click on your website. Kept as a secondary signal and never used to steer bidding.
Ad call connected
A call through a Google forwarding number that reaches your Grasshopper line, matched to its Detail Report row by caller ID and time. Outbound calls and existing customers are excluded.
Missed call or voicemail
Counted as lost demand. It only becomes a lead when your callback or Instant Response text thread connects.
Qualified caller
The primary conversion: a new caller you mark as a real prospect. Spam, vendors, wrong numbers and job seekers never reach the ad platforms.
Job booked
Marked from your calendar, booking tool or a shared sheet, with the quoted value attached.
Job paid
Final revenue sent as an adjusted value, so return on ad spend reflects money collected rather than estimates.
Written guarantee
95%+ tracking accuracy
Measured against Grasshopper Detail Report — inbound calls by date and time, with caller ID, Grasshopper number, extension, duration and call type. Miss it and we keep working at no cost.

FAQ
Grasshopper questions, answered
No. Grasshopper says it doesn't directly integrate with other platforms and has no public API, and its features page lists no Google, Meta or Zapier connection. Tracking has to be built around it, using Google forwarding numbers and Grasshopper's Detail Report.
You can, but Google only tracks calls that ring through a Google forwarding number, and its call conversion imports require one. Without one, Google has no record of the call to match your qualified callers against.
No. Your Grasshopper number, extensions and forwarding stay exactly as they are. Google's forwarding numbers sit in front of your line for ad visitors and ring straight through to it.
Grasshopper's help center says CPNI compliance stops support from running reports on your behalf. An account admin has to sign in and run the Detail Report.
We send each qualified caller to Meta's Conversions API with action_source set to phone_call and a hashed phone number, which Meta uses to match the caller to the people who saw or clicked your ad.
Not fully. With no Grasshopper API, qualified calls go up in batches from the Detail Report. Google call imports run weekly, while Meta gets uploads at least twice a week, since its Conversions API rejects events more than seven days old.
