Your FieldRoutes widget sells pest plans online. Google Ads can't tell which ads sold them.
FieldRoutes' Buy Online widget lets a homeowner pick a pest, choose a package, book a slot and pay by card on your own site. FieldRoutes documents no Google Ads or Meta connection for it, and the new customer card's source just says "Buy Services Online." We tie every widget purchase and new FieldRoutes subscription back to the ad click, so bidding learns which campaigns sell mosquito, rodent and general pest plans that stay active.

FieldRoutes · what breaks
What goes wrong when FieldRoutes runs your online sales
- 01
"FieldRoutes shows online sales. Google Ads shows almost none."
FieldRoutes documents no Google Ads or Meta connection for the widget, only a Tag Manager guide that sends GA4 events. Unless someone built conversions on top, Smart Bidding never hears that a homeowner paid for a quarterly plan and keeps funding keywords that only bring browsers.
- 02
"Every abandoned lead looks like a win"
Submit an address and contact details on step two and FieldRoutes creates a customer card, then flags it as an abandoned lead if the homeowner quits. Fire your conversion there and Google counts people who bailed at the price screen the same as payers, then hunts for more of them.
- 03
"We can't see which campaign sold which plan"
Widget sales land as "Buy Services Online" or "E-Commerce," and every other source depends on staff picking one. A search ad, a Meta ad and an organic visit look identical in your Sales Report, so budget calls come down to gut feel.
- 04
"Referrals we paid a fee on are counted as our ad wins"
With Affiliate Network on, out-of-area visitors get routed to partner operators through separate network widget steps, and leads other operators refer to you carry a lead fee or sale fee. Count those as ad wins and your cost per new account looks better than it is.
FieldRoutes · the fix
What changes after we fix it — FieldRoutes
Bidding learns from paid plans, not form fills
The main conversion is a finished widget purchase confirmed against a new FieldRoutes subscription, so Google and Meta optimize toward homeowners who paid.
Every sale tied to the ad that started it
The click ID is stored first-party on landing and matched to the subscription, so you can see whether Google search or Meta filled this month's routes.
Cancellations corrected in Google Ads
When FieldRoutes records a cancellation date, we retract or restate that sale in Google Ads, which accepts adjustments for up to 54 days, so your reported cost per account reflects plans you kept.
FieldRoutes · architecture
What FieldRoutes actually lets you hook into
FieldRoutes documents a Google Tag Manager method for the widget and an API with optional webhooks. We found no native Google Ads or Meta connection in its knowledge base, so the ad side is ours to build.
- 1
Unique HTML IDs on every widget step
FieldRoutes publishes 15 step IDs, ecom_pestSelection through ecom_finishedPurchase, plus network variants and failure states, and its guide uses GTM element visibility triggers.
- 2
Widget code on your own sites
Copied from E-Commerce Widget Settings onto up to three sites. E-Commerce comes with Marketing Pro, and a FieldRoutes specialist has to switch it on.
- 3
FieldRoutes API
Office-level keys: 50 reads and 250 writes a day free, 3,000 of each on Premium. Subscriptions expose sourceID, dateAdded, initialServiceTotal, contractValue and dateCancelled.
- 4
Trigger Rules webhooks (Premium only)
FieldRoutes lists webhooks only on Premium. Without it, we poll the API on a schedule.
- 5
Customer sources
Widget sales get "Buy Services Online" or "E-Commerce" automatically; phone and office sales rely on staff choosing a source, which we spot-check.
FieldRoutes · diagnose
Where FieldRoutes tracking breaks, in the order we check
We start at the purchase step, because a GA4 setup copied from FieldRoutes' guide still sends nothing to the platforms that set your bids.
- 01
Does any conversion fire on ecom_finishedPurchase?
Often only GA4 events exist, never imported into Google Ads or sent to Meta.
- 02
Is the conversion sitting on the contact step instead?
That counts every abandoned lead as a sale.
- 03
Do the element visibility triggers still match the current widget code?
Old pasted code or a page builder that swaps markup can quietly stop them.
- 04
Are network steps and Network Referrals filtered out?
They need their own handling, or none.
- 05
Does a value travel with the purchase?
FieldRoutes' guide sends none, and $0 or $1 starter deals make a widget-side value misleading.
FieldRoutes · prove
The QA evidence — FieldRoutes
Done with a real card purchase through the widget on your live site, cancelled in FieldRoutes afterward if you like.
Source of truth
FieldRoutes subscriptions and the E-commerce Sales report: sold date, source, initial service total and cancellation date for each new account
- One purchase from an ad-tagged URL, its click ID matched to the new subscription.
- One Google Ads conversion and one Meta event for it, deduplicated on a shared event ID.
- A run abandoned at the package step, logged as a lead and absent from purchases.
- An out-of-area address firing no conversion.
- Value checked against initialServiceTotal.
- A closed month reconciled subscription by subscription.
- Rerun a month on, and again any time you paste fresh code from E-Commerce Widget Settings.

FieldRoutes · when not to buy
When you don't need this on FieldRoutes
Plenty of pest control companies on FieldRoutes don't need a rebuild, and we'll say so.
- If you don't have Marketing Pro or E-Commerce, nearly all sales come by phone, and call tracking matters more than the widget.
- If most new accounts come from door-to-door reps, ad tracking won't explain much of your growth.
- If you don't run paid ads and only want GA4 funnel reports, FieldRoutes' own GTM guide covers it.
- If a conversion is just firing on the wrong step, it's a quick fix and we'll show you how to do it yourself.
FieldRoutes · what we deliver
The event map on FieldRoutes
Pest selected
Step one, tracked as engagement only. FieldRoutes creates no record yet, so it never counts as a lead.
Contact info submitted
The lead signal, fired when step two is submitted and the customer card is created. Commercial properties get tagged separately, since self-serve stops for them.
Package chosen and time slot picked
Mid-funnel steps that show whether homeowners drop at the price screen or the schedule.
Finished purchase
The primary conversion, on the widget's finished-purchase step after the card is charged, with a shared event ID for Google and Meta.
Subscription confirmed in FieldRoutes
Server-side from the FieldRoutes API: sold date and initial service total as the value. Phone and office sales get matched here too.
Excluded on purpose
Out-of-area, no-provider and session-expired steps, network partner purchases, accounts your door-to-door reps sell, and Customer Portal activity by existing customers.
Written guarantee
95%+ tracking accuracy
Measured against FieldRoutes subscriptions and the E-commerce Sales report: sold date, source, initial service total and cancellation date for each new account. Miss it and we keep working at no cost.

FAQ
FieldRoutes questions, answered
Not according to FieldRoutes' own knowledge base. It documents a Tag Manager setup that sends GA4 events for each Buy Online step; Google Ads and Meta conversions get built on top, plus server-side events from the API.
The finished-purchase step, ecom_finishedPurchase, because the card has been charged by then. The contact step creates a customer card even for people who abandon, so it belongs as a lead signal, not your main conversion.
Yes, but not through the widget. Call tracking that keeps the click ID gets matched to the subscription your office creates in FieldRoutes and sent back as an offline conversion.
Not always. The free tier allows 50 reads a day per office, which can cover polling for new subscriptions a few times a day at a single location; Premium adds webhooks and 3,000 reads a day for busy or multi-branch operations.
They will if nobody filters them. The widget uses separate network step IDs and FieldRoutes labels referred customers "Network Referrals," so we keep both out of your ad conversions.
FieldRoutes records a cancellation date on the subscription. We read it from the API and retract or restate the sale in Google Ads; bidding only uses adjustments made within 7 days, so a fast cancellation gets caught in time and a later one still comes out of your reports.
