Your ads are taking credit for Zola couples. See which weddings Zola booked and which your ads did
You spend credits to connect with Zola couples, maybe pay for a Featured Spot, and run Google or Meta ads on top. Then a couple who found you on Zola searches your name, fills in your website form, and Google Ads takes the win. For photographers, venues, planners and florists on Zola, we give every signed contract one honest source and show cost per booked wedding for Zola and each ad channel side by side.

Zola · what breaks
What goes wrong when you run ads alongside Zola
- 01
"My brand campaign looks like my best campaign"
A couple saves you on Zola, later searches your studio name, clicks your brand ad and fills in your contact form. Google Ads takes the conversion, so you pay credits and a brand click for one couple, then raise the brand budget on demand Zola created.
- 02
"I can't say which connections turned into contracts"
Inquiries arrive inside the couple's Zola account and you connect or decline there. Zola's vendor FAQ documents no lead export, API, webhook or Zapier, so a booked couple rarely carries a Zola tag into your CRM, and you can't work out cost per booked wedding on Zola.
- 03
"Zola couples land in my CRM as direct leads"
On the storefronts we checked, Zola adds utm_source=zola to your Website link and opens it with no referrer. If your contact form or booking embed drops those tags before the lead is saved, the couple looks direct or gets credited to the last ad they clicked, so Zola looks weaker than it is and your ads look stronger.
- 04
"I don't know if a Featured Spot beats more ad spend"
Zola sells first-row placement in your market, and its FAQ describes no reporting on what that placement booked. Choosing between a Featured Spot and another month of Google Ads stays a guess until booked weddings are sourced.
Zola · the fix
What changes after the fix — Zola
One source on every signed contract
Zola inquiry, Zola website click, Google Ads or Meta, recorded once on the couple's record in your CRM or booking tool.
Bidding learns only from couples your ads found
Zola-sourced leads are held out of Google Ads and Meta conversion uploads, so Smart Bidding stops chasing couples who were already on their way to you.
A straight answer on Zola versus ads
Credits spent, Unlimited plan fee or Featured Spot cost per booked wedding, next to Google Ads and Meta cost per booked wedding, for the same season.
Zola · architecture
What Zola actually lets you hook into
Very little on Zola's side, which is why most of the work happens on your website and in your CRM.
- 1
Inquiries inside Zola
Couples inquire from their Zola account. You connect using credits or an Unlimited plan, or decline at no cost, and Zola says inquiries expire after 14 days.
- 2
The storefront Website link
On the storefronts we checked it carries utm_source=zola, utm_medium=referral and utm_campaign=listing, opened with no referrer. We confirm the same on your listing.
- 3
Say Hello prospects
Free notes to couples matching your Lead Preferences. A reply comes back as an inquiry you can connect to or decline.
- 4
Featured Spots
Paid first-row placement in a market, rotating with other vendors where demand is high. No conversion reporting is described.
- 5
No tracking connections
Zola's vendor FAQ documents no Pixel, GA4, Google Tag Manager, lead export, API, webhook or Zapier option, so we don't build anything that depends on one.
Zola · diagnose
Where Zola attribution breaks, in the order we check
We start with the brand campaign, because that's where Zola couples most often get claimed by your ads.
- 01
Brand conversions versus Zola couples
Compare last quarter's brand-campaign leads with names in your Zola inquiry history.
- 02
The Website link's tags
Confirm utm_source=zola is present on your storefront and lands in GA4 as Zola.
- 03
Your form or booking embed
Check whether UTMs and click IDs survive into the saved lead, especially inside an iframe.
- 04
Which form fires your ad conversions
If every form submit counts for Google Ads and Meta, Zola-referred couples are being reported as ad leads.
- 05
Zola spend per booked wedding
Total credits, plan fees and Featured Spot cost against the contracts you can trace back to Zola.

Source of truth
The inquiries and connections in your Zola Leads section, matched to signed contracts in your CRM or booking tool
- A click on your storefront's Website link recorded in GA4 as source zola, medium referral.
- A test inquiry from that click saved with the zola tag and no ad conversion fired.
- A test inquiry from an ad-tagged URL saved with its GCLID or fbclid and reported once.
- A signed contract uploaded to Google Ads and Meta with its value and a shared event ID.
- Couples from your Zola inquiry history confirmed absent from ad conversion uploads.
- The Zola-versus-ads match rerun 30 days later on newly booked couples.

Zola · when not to buy
When you don't need this — Zola
Plenty of Zola vendors can skip it.
- If you don't run Google or Meta ads and Zola is your main lead source, your Zola dashboard already tells you what you need.
- If you book a dozen weddings a year, a spreadsheet with a source column for each couple will answer the Zola question.
- If the only break is your contact form dropping the zola UTM tag, that's a hidden-field fix, and we'll tell you how to do it yourself.

FAQ
Zola questions, answered
Not that Zola documents. Its vendor FAQ lists no Pixel, GA4 or Tag Manager option, so tracking starts when a couple reaches your own website.
On the storefronts we checked, Zola tags the Website link with utm_source=zola. Your form has to keep that tag on the lead, which many contact forms and booking embeds don't do by default.
No. They have no ad click behind them, so uploading them teaches bidding that your ads produced couples they didn't. Track them for reporting and keep them out of ad conversions.
Couples often find you on Zola, then search your business name before reaching out. Last-click attribution hands that booking to the brand ad unless you check it against your Zola inquiry history.
Compare cost per booked wedding, not inquiries. That only works once every contract records whether the couple came from Zola, Google Ads or Meta.
