Houzz conversion tracking: Google Ads shows no leads while Houzz Pro fills up with remodel jobs
A homeowner clicks your kitchen remodel, flooring or custom home ad, browses your Houzz portfolio, then messages you from your profile or fills in the Houzz Pro contact form on your site. Houzz Pro logs a Direct Message, a My Website lead or a form lead with no ad source, Google Ads sees a click with nothing after it, and nobody knows which campaign started the whole-home remodel. We give every Houzz Pro lead its true source, carry click IDs through to won projects, and send Google and Meta only the jobs their ads produced.

Houzz · what breaks
What goes wrong when Houzz sits between your ads and your jobs
- 01
"Google says my remodel ads get nothing, but the phone rings"
Leads from a Houzz-hosted site land in Houzz Pro as My Website, with nothing recorded about the ad click that brought them. Smart Bidding sees no conversions and bids down the campaigns that are filling your calendar.
- 02
"The contact form on my site doesn't fire my Pixel"
The Houzz Pro form you paste into your site is an iframe from houzz.com. Your tags on the parent page never see the submit, and Houzz documents no redirect or hidden fields to pass the lead along.
- 03
"I don't know if that call came from Houzz or Google"
Houzz tells pros to ask callers whether they found the number on Houzz. When your profile, site and ads share one line, a bathroom remodel call gets tagged on a guess, and both channels' cost per job is wrong.
- 04
"I'm paying Houzz and Google for the same homeowner"
A homeowner who clicks your ad, then messages you from your Houzz profile, counts as a Houzz win. You renew Houzz advertising and trim Google spend over a lead Google found.
Houzz · the fix
What changes after the fix — Houzz
Every Houzz Pro lead carries its real source
Google Ads, Meta, Houzz Project Match, profile messages and organic traffic become separate lead sources, so Lead Insights shows won projects and estimated revenue by channel, ready to set against what each one costs.
Google Ads bids on signed projects, not form fills
Leads that reach Meeting Scheduled, Proposal/Estimate Sent and Won in Houzz Pro are uploaded to the campaign that earned them, with the project's estimated revenue.
Houzz leads stay out of your ad signal
Project Match and profile leads are counted for Houzz, never fed to Google or Meta as if those platforms produced them.
Houzz · architecture
What Houzz actually lets you hook into
Houzz Pro is built to pull leads in, not push data out. These are the pieces Houzz documents, plus what we confirm on your account.
- 1
Houzz Pro contact form (iframe)
Embedded with an iframe pointing at houzz.com. Houzz documents default fields, custom questions and a confirmation message, but no redirect, hidden fields or UTM capture.
- 2
Houzz-hosted website
Available on select Houzz packages, on a houzzsite.com address or your own domain. We found no documented place for a Google tag, Tag Manager container or Meta Pixel, so we confirm what your editor allows.
- 3
Lead types and custom lead sources
Houzz Pro labels leads Project Match, Direct Message, Phone Call, My Website or Other Houzz Sources, and lets you add your own sources under Manage Lead Sources.
- 4
Zapier: Create Lead and Create Project only
The Houzz Pro Zapier app lists actions and no triggers, so leads can be created from your own form with a lead source set, but stage changes have to leave Houzz Pro another way. We confirm which report or export your plan gives you before promising a cadence.
- 5
Pipeline stages and Lead Insights
Stages run New, Followed Up, Connected, Meeting Scheduled, Proposal/Estimate Sent, Won, with estimated revenue on conversion and funnels by your top 10 sources.
- 6
Click-to-Call proxy number
Outbound calls from Houzz Pro show a proxy number by default, and a homeowner who calls that number back rings your phone without touching any tracking number you run. You can connect your own number instead.
Houzz · diagnose
Where Houzz tracking breaks, in the order we check
Start inside Houzz Pro, because if the lead source field is wrong, every report built on it is wrong too.
- 01
Read the lead source on last quarter's won projects
If most say My Website or are blank, ad-driven jobs are hiding there.
- 02
Find every Houzz contact-form iframe
Submit one after clicking a test ad link, then check whether any tag fired and whether the click ID reached the lead.
- 03
Check which phone number each channel shows
Your Houzz Business Details, your website header and your call extensions should not all be one line.
- 04
Open your Google Ads and Meta conversion actions
Thank-you page views that never happen, or clicks on an iframe, often stand in for leads.
- 05
Compare Houzz-originated leads with ad-platform claims
Project Match and profile message leads that an ad platform also claims point to double counting.
Houzz · prove
How we prove the Houzz split holds
Tested with live leads on your real site and profile, then a closed window of real projects.
Source of truth
Houzz Pro lead and project records: lead source, stage, and the estimated revenue entered when each won lead became a project, cross-checked against Houzz Pro invoices and online payments
- A test estimate request sent from a link carrying a gclid, created in Houzz Pro with the paid-ad source and the click ID stored.
- A test message from your Houzz profile, filed under Houzz and never sent to Google or Meta.
- A call to your ad number logged as paid search, and a call to your Houzz number kept separate.
- Each estimate request from your site appears once in Meta Events Manager, browser and server copies merged on one event ID, while profile messages appear zero times.
- Meeting Scheduled, Proposal/Estimate Sent and Won imports visible in Google Ads against the right campaigns.
- Won projects matched by source against each ad platform across a closed window.
- Rerun 30 days later and whenever your Houzz website, contact form or profile phone number changes.

Houzz · when not to buy
When you don't need this for Houzz
Some Houzz Pro users only need cleaner lead sources.
- If you don't run Google or Meta ads, setting the lead source on every Houzz Pro lead and reading Lead Insights will tell you what Houzz is worth.
- If nearly all your work comes from Project Match and referrals, there's no ad spend to steer, so tracking ads adds little.
- If your site isn't on Houzz and your forms already pass click IDs into a CRM other than Houzz Pro, fix that CRM's import instead.
- If the only problem is an old phone number on your Houzz profile, update it yourself in Business Details.
Houzz · what we deliver
The event map from ad click to Houzz Pro project
Ad-click lead on your own site
A first-party estimate request with the Google click ID, Meta click ID and UTMs stored, sent server-side and created in Houzz Pro with a paid-ad lead source.
Call from an ad
Tracked on a number used only in your ads and on your site, so it never mixes with the number on your Houzz Business Details.
Consultation booked
Counted when the lead reaches Meeting Scheduled in Houzz Pro, the first sign the remodel is real, and uploaded with the stored click ID.
Proposal or estimate sent
A mid-funnel conversion so Google Ads learns before a long design-build sale closes.
Project won
The main conversion, valued from the estimated revenue you enter when converting the lead to a project.
Houzz-originated leads and spam (excluded)
Project Match, Direct Message, Phone Call and leads-pool contacts are reported for Houzz only, and junk leads you archive or delete never reach an ad platform.
FAQ
Houzz questions, answered
Houzz's help center doesn't document a place for third-party tags on Houzz-hosted sites, so we check your editor first. If there isn't one, tracking moves to a first-party form and a server container on a subdomain you control.
The form is an iframe served from houzz.com, so tags on your page can't see it submit. Houzz documents no redirect or hidden fields, which leaves Google Ads with a click and no lead.
Not through Zapier, because the Houzz Pro Zapier app only creates leads and projects. We store the click ID when the lead comes in, confirm what stage data your Houzz Pro plan lets you pull out, and upload Meeting Scheduled, estimate and Won updates to Google Ads on a set schedule.
Set it at the moment the lead is created. Leads from your own ad-tracked form get a paid-ad source automatically, and leads from your Houzz profile keep Houzz's labels.
That depends on cost per won project, which you only get once both channels feed Houzz Pro with honest sources. After a quarter of clean data, Lead Insights gives you won projects and estimated revenue by source, and dividing each channel's spend by its wins answers it for your business.
