CherryPayments and financing

Patients finance treatment with Cherry. Your ads think nobody bought.

A patient clicks your ad, books a consult for Invisalign or a hair transplant, then applies through your Cherry link and confirms the checkout link your staff text them days later. Both steps run through Cherry, so Google Ads and Meta never see the financed treatment. We match each completed Cherry checkout to the click that started it, so campaigns learn which searches become patients who say yes.

Cherry · what breaks

What goes wrong when patients pay with Cherry

  1. 01

"Our Payment Plans page gets traffic, but GA4 never shows an application"

Cherry's guide has you paste a Partner Portal script into an HTML element, and the apply link in that script carries Cherry's own utm_source, not yours. Patients then apply through Cherry's application link rather than a form on your site, so unless the click is tagged on your page, financing-ready patients from paid clicks read as bounces.

  2. 02

"Google thinks the consult form was the sale"

The patient who financed orthodontics or a vein procedure looks identical in Google Ads to one who never picked up your callback, so Smart Bidding keeps buying the cheapest form fills.

  3. 03

"We were counting approvals as revenue"

Cherry approves on a soft credit check, the approval stays open at least 30 days, and its amount is the most the patient can spend at your practice, not what they did spend. Reporting it, or its amount, makes a campaign look profitable before anyone sits in the chair.

  4. 04

"The Cherry portal shows who checked out, not which ad sent them"

Your portal shows approvals and transactions, but Cherry's provider help never mentions campaigns, click IDs or an ad-platform connection. You can't tell whether Google, Meta or a referral brought the patients who finance.

Cherry · the fix

What changes — Cherry

  • Financed treatment credited to the right campaign

Completed Cherry transactions are matched to the click ID stored when the patient first called, booked or filled in your form, then uploaded to Google Ads and sent to Meta through the Conversions API.

  • Bidding that learns from patients who go ahead

Applications and approvals become observation-only signals. The checkout, at the final purchase price set at checkout, is the one conversion that steers bids.

  • Refunds and declines kept out of the numbers

A full refund cancels the patient's Cherry plan, and it gets retracted at each platform too. No treatment name, approval amount or credit result ever leaves your practice.

Cherry · architecture

What Cherry actually lets you hook into

Cherry's provider help center, partner page and website guide describe application links, a Cherry-maintained webpage script and portal tools. None of them mention Google Ads, GA4, Google Tag Manager, the Meta Pixel, webhooks or Zapier.

  1. 1

    Practice application link

Unique to your practice and found in your Cherry portal. Patients apply with a soft credit check and need a mobile phone to get their checkout link, and an approval only works at the practice that issued it.

  2. 2

    Your Cherry Webpage script

Copied from Marketing > Web Resources in the Partner Portal into an HTML element on a page Cherry then maintains. We confirm whether it renders inline or in a frame, which decides what your tags can see.

  3. 3

    Banners and widget images

Downloadable assets Cherry tells you to link to your application link. The click on your own page is the last thing your tags can record.

  4. 4

    Portal checkout and transactions

Staff send a checkout link the patient has seven days to complete, and can adjust the final price first. Completed transactions are listed in the transactions tab, where refunds are started too. That's the record we report from.

  5. 5

    Practice-software connections

Cherry's partner page names no practice-software integrations. We confirm whether your practice software connects to Cherry at all, and if it does, whether the checkout lands on the patient record holding the click ID.

Cherry · diagnose

Where Cherry tracking breaks, in the order we check

Start with the click ID. If it never reaches the patient record, no Cherry checkout can be matched to an ad later.

  1. 01

Does a test lead from an ad-tagged URL keep its click ID?

Submit one and open the patient record in your practice software.

  2. 02

Which conversion is Google Ads optimizing toward?

If it's a Payment Plans page view or an approval, bids are chasing intent rather than revenue.

  3. 03

Are approvals or approval amounts being reported?

Check every conversion action in Google Ads and every custom event in Meta.

  4. 04

Do completed checkouts match what was uploaded?

Compare the Cherry transactions tab with each platform over a closed month.

  5. 05

    Are refunds retracted?

A full refund cancels the plan inside Cherry. It should cancel the conversion as well.

Cherry · prove

The QA evidence — Cherry

Run on a real consult request from a tagged ad URL on your live site, followed through to a Cherry checkout your staff send.

Source of truth

Cherry portal transactions: completed checkouts and refunds, joined to the patient record that holds the click ID

  • One test lead with gclid and fbclid visible on the patient record.
  • Clicks to the application link and Payment Plans page recorded as secondary events only.
  • One completed Cherry checkout uploaded to Google Ads at the purchase price.
  • The same checkout received once in Meta Events Manager, with a shared event ID.
  • A refund retracted at both platforms.
  • Rerun 30 days later and after any change to your Payment Plans page.

Cherry · when not to buy

When you don't need this for Cherry

Accepting Cherry doesn't automatically mean your ads data needs work.

  • If Cherry mostly covers people already in your chair, like existing orthodontic or chiropractic patients splitting a balance, track the booked consult and leave financing out of ad reporting.
  • If you don't run Google or Meta ads, your Cherry portal already shows approvals and transactions, and that's enough.
  • If the only fault is an approval set as a primary conversion, switching it to secondary takes minutes and we'll tell you to do it yourself.
  • If most patients check out more than 90 days after their first click, Google can no longer accept that click ID, so the attended consult becomes the conversion and the build gets smaller.

Cherry · what we deliver

The event map on Cherry

  • Ad lead captured

Call, consult form or online booking, with gclid, gbraid, fbclid and UTMs written to the patient record before financing comes up.

  • Payment Plans interest

Visits to your Cherry webpage and clicks on banners linked to your application link, logged by page for reporting only.

  • Consult attended

The qualified step, pulled from your schedule so no-shows drop out before Cherry is ever offered.

  • Cherry approval noted

A secondary signal taken from your Cherry portal. Its dollar amount is never sent as conversion value.

  • Cherry checkout completed

The primary conversion, valued at the purchase price your staff entered, matched to the original click and sent once per treatment.

  • Excluded or reversed

Denied applications, approvals that expire unused, checkout links left to lapse after seven days, and refunds, which are pulled back at Google and Meta.

Written guarantee
