NCR CounterpointPayments and financing

Your ads bring people into the store. Counterpoint rings the sale. Nothing connects the two.

Pool and spa stores, garden centers, piano shops and lighting showrooms on Counterpoint hit the same wall: Google Ads and Meta see a website visit or a directions tap, but the money changes hands at a register they never see. We match Counterpoint tickets to the people your ads reached, through the customer on the ticket, and send them back with real dollar values.

NCR Counterpoint · what breaks

What goes wrong when Counterpoint runs the register

  1. 01

"Google says I'm getting conversions. My register doesn't agree."

With no Counterpoint sales coming back, Google Ads counts directions taps as wins, and smart bidding spends your budget chasing more of them instead of the shoppers who buy a hot tub or a lighting package.

  2. 02

"I can't tell which ads sell anything."

The sale is a Counterpoint ticket with a customer number on it. That record never reaches Meta or Google, so a garden center's spring campaign gets judged on clicks, not on the weekend it sold out.

  3. 03

"Our web store and the shop don't agree."

Online orders typically reach Counterpoint through a third-party connector, such as a BigCommerce sync. If the web store reports the order and the synced ticket is uploaded too, the same sale counts twice and return on ad spend looks better than it is.

  4. 04

"Every landscaper's account shows up as a new customer."

Trade buyers charging to a house account aren't ad-driven, but their large tickets look like conversions if nobody filters them. Budget then drifts toward people who were never new business.

NCR Counterpoint · the fix

What changes once it's fixed — NCR Counterpoint

  • Bidding learns from register sales

Customer-matched Counterpoint tickets go to Meta as physical-store events and to Google Ads against the web lead they started from, with the ticket total as the value.

  • One count per sale, wherever it was paid

Each sale is keyed to one order reference. We confirm your connector carries the web order number into Counterpoint, so a sale that starts online and finishes at the counter is reported once.

  • Ad reports you can check against Counterpoint

Every conversion traces to a ticket number, so you can open the sale in your own system and see it's real.

NCR Counterpoint · architecture

What Counterpoint actually lets you hook into

From NCR's published Counterpoint API guide. It's a data API you query, not a marketing integration.

  1. 1

REST API server, hosted by you or in the cloud

Runs on a Windows machine on-premises or in the cloud, needs an API key on most calls, and needs the API option enabled in the company's registration file.

  2. 2

    Customer records

Endpoints to read, create and update customers, including e-commerce customer flags. This is where the email and phone for matching live.

  3. 3

    Documents (tickets)

You can create a ticket and read one that hasn't been posted. A history of completed sales isn't listed, so closed-ticket export is something we confirm per store.

  4. 4

    E-commerce settings and inventory

Read-only endpoints for e-commerce settings, categories and inventory: the product side of a web store, not its orders.

  5. 5

    No webhooks, no ad-platform connection

The guide lists no event push and no Google Ads, GA4 or Meta option, so every conversion we send starts as a scheduled pull.

NCR Counterpoint · diagnose

Where Counterpoint tracking breaks, in the order we check

Counterpoint itself is rarely the fault. The gap is everything around it.

  1. 01

What Google Ads is counting as a conversion today

Directions taps and page views set as primary get demoted before any Counterpoint sale is added.

  2. 02

Share of tickets with a customer attached

Anonymous cash sales can't be matched to anyone, however good the setup.

  3. 03

Whether web leads carry the click ID and contact details

We submit a test quote request from an ad-tagged link and check what arrives.

  4. 04

    How online orders reach Counterpoint

Identify the connector and whether its orders can be told apart from walk-in tickets.

  5. 05

Which customers are trade or house accounts

These get a flag so they stay out of the acquisition count.

NCR Counterpoint · prove

How we prove it on your Counterpoint data

Checked on real tickets from your stores, not NCR's demo company.

Source of truth

NCR Counterpoint closed tickets, with ticket number, customer number, store and total

  • A test lead from an ad-tagged URL, then a Counterpoint ticket rung up for the same customer.
  • That ticket arriving once in Meta Events Manager as a physical-store event with hashed email or phone.
  • The same sale matched in Google Ads against the original web lead.
  • An online order counted from the web store only and absent from the store upload.
  • House-account and gift card redemption tickets confirmed excluded.
  • Matched conversions reconciled against Counterpoint tickets over a closed window, then again 30 days later and after any upgrade or connector change.

NCR Counterpoint · when not to buy

When you don't need this on Counterpoint

Some stores need a settings cleanup, not a build.

  • If almost no tickets carry a customer number and staff won't start asking at checkout, there's nothing to match yet.
  • If you only run Google Ads to drive store visits and spend is small, cleaning up which actions count as conversions may be enough, with no Counterpoint export at all.
  • If nearly all your revenue is contractor and trade accounts, ad attribution won't tell you much. Account-level sales reports will.
  • If your web store already reports orders accurately and in-store sales don't drive your ad decisions, leave Counterpoint out of it.

NCR Counterpoint · what we deliver

The event map on NCR Counterpoint

  • Quote or showroom request

Website form for a pool build, piano trial or lighting consult, captured with the click ID and the customer's email and phone.

  • Call from an ad

Tracked on the number the ad shows, so phone-first shoppers aren't lost before they visit.

  • Customer created or matched in Counterpoint

The web lead linked to a Counterpoint customer number at the counter, the step that makes matching possible.

  • Store ticket closed

The conversion, valued from the ticket total, sent for customer-matched sales only.

  • Online order

Tracked on the web store with its own event ID, then excluded from the store upload when it syncs into Counterpoint.

  • Returns, gift card redemptions and house-account charges

Excluded from acquisition conversions; returns are reflected only where a platform accepts an adjustment.

FAQ

NCR Counterpoint questions, answered

Not directly. NCR's Counterpoint API guide lists customer, ticket, item, inventory and gift card endpoints but no ad-platform connection or webhooks, so sales have to be pulled from your records and sent on.
