Conversion tracking for TimeTap's embedded scheduler
TimeTap's embedded scheduler runs in an iframe, which normally means your page is blind to the booking. TimeTap gets around that: with a Google Analytics ID set, the scheduler posts messages to the parent page for page visits, logins, registrations and single or multiple appointment bookings. Those messages are the best raw material any small scheduler offers, but they are only useful if your page listens for them properly and turns the right ones into conversions.

TimeTap · what breaks
Where TimeTap tracking goes wrong despite the events
- 01
Nobody is listening on the parent page
The scheduler posts its messages, but unless your page has a listener that forwards them, they go nowhere.
- 02
Registrations treated as bookings
A client creating an account or logging in is not a booking. Forwarding every message inflates conversions.
- 03
Several appointments booked in one go
A multiple-appointment booking is one conversion with several appointments in it, not several separate conversions.
- 04
The hosted site behaves differently
Clients reaching your TimeTap booking site directly, rather than the embed, may not produce the same messages at all.
TimeTap · the fix
What a correct TimeTap setup gives you
Booking messages forwarded to every platform, not just GA
Through your own data layer and a first-party server container.
Only bookings counted as conversions
Visits, registrations and logins kept as supporting signals.
One conversion per booking action
With the number of appointments carried on it.
TimeTap · architecture
What TimeTap actually lets you do
From TimeTap's own support documentation on embedded schedulers.
- 1
An embedded scheduler in an iframe
Or a vendor-hosted booking site. The embed is the one with documented tracking.
- 2
postMessage events to the parent page
Posted once a Google Analytics ID is set on the scheduler.
- 3
Page visits, logins and registrations
Sent as messages, useful context but not conversions.
- 4
Single and multiple appointment bookings
The messages that should become your conversion.
- 5
Analytics on the hosted booking site: unverified
Check whether direct visits to the hosted site send anything. If not, route ad traffic to the embed.
TimeTap · diagnose
Where TimeTap tracking breaks, in diagnostic order
Most TimeTap problems are on your side of the iframe, so start there.
- 01
Check that the GA ID is set on the scheduler
Without it, TimeTap does not post the messages at all.
- 02
Open the browser console and make a booking
Confirm the messages arrive at the parent page and something receives them.
- 03
Check which messages are being forwarded
If registrations or logins reach the ad platforms as conversions, numbers are inflated.
- 04
Book several appointments at once
Then count how many conversions were recorded.
- 05
Compare embed and hosted-site bookings
If hosted-site bookings never appear, that is the missing share.

Source of truth
TimeTap's appointment records, appointments booked by date with service and booking group
- A single booking producing one conversion at the service value on each platform.
- A multiple-appointment booking producing one conversion with the count attached.
- A registration with no booking confirmed not to convert.
- Messages from any origin other than TimeTap confirmed ignored by the listener.
- Browser and server copies of each booking deduplicated on a shared event ID.
- Bookings reconciled one to one against TimeTap over a closed window.
- Re-checked 30 days later and after any TimeTap release that touches the embed.

TimeTap · when not to buy
When you don't need this on TimeTap
TimeTap's messages make a small fix possible. Sometimes that is all you need.
- If you only use Google Analytics and the messages already reach GA correctly, a one-off check may be enough.
- If almost all bookings come from people who already have accounts, acquisition tracking is measuring very little.
- If you send ads only to the embedded page and run low volume, a careful listener on your site may be the whole job, and a developer can write it.
- If your bookings are internal or by invitation, such as staff or existing students, ads are not the question.

FAQ
TimeTap questions, answered
Usually because nothing on the page is listening, or the listener forwards only to GA. The messages need to be picked up and sent on to every platform you buy ads on.
TimeTap ties them to having a GA ID set on the scheduler, so set one even if GA is not where you report.
No. Creating an account is not a booking, and it can happen without one. Use it as a supporting signal at most.
It is one booking action. Send one conversion with the number of appointments and their combined value.
We could not confirm that the hosted site sends the same events. Test it, and if it does not, point paid traffic at the page with the embed.
