EZRentOut · Conversion tracking
Conversion tracking for EZRentOut webstores
EZRentOut gives its online store a Google Analytics and Tag Manager option under Settings > Store Settings, so unlike many rental platforms you are not locked out of the page. The catch is what that container can see: a renter picks items, sets pickup and return dates, and checks out on a store the vendor hosts, and nothing in the default setup turns that checkout into a valued conversion your ad accounts understand. A tag that fires on page loads will count browsing, not rentals.

Every figure above is either a commitment we put in writing or a countable fact. What your own setup is losing is not on this list, because we haven’t measured it yet — that happens on the call, against your own order records.

Where EZRentOut orders go missing
A container that only sees page loads
The GTM option is there, but a page view is not a rental order.
Order value that depends on dates
Three days of a scissor lift and three weeks of it are different conversions.
Quote requests counted as rentals
A request still has to be priced and accepted.
Repeat contractor accounts
Regulars reordering through the store look like new demand.
Architecture
What EZRentOut actually lets you do
One documented hook, and several things to confirm before relying on them.
Step 1
Google Analytics and Tag Manager option
Set under Settings > Store Settings; this is how your container gets onto the store.
Step 2
Check what the order confirmation page exposes
Confirm on a test order whether order total and ID are readable by the container.
Step 3
Check whether the store sits on your domain
If it runs on a vendor address, first-party cookies set on your site will not follow.
Step 4
Check the order export
EZRentOut's own order records are the source of truth for reconciliation.
Step 5
No ad-platform conversion sending documented
Assume nothing reaches Meta or Google unless you send it.
Diagnostic sequence
How we find the EZRentOut leak
Ordered so the cheapest check that could explain the gap runs first.
- 1
Confirm the GTM container ID in Store Settings is live
A stale or mistyped ID is a five-minute fix and surprisingly common.
- 2
Place a test rental and watch the confirmation step
Either an order value is visible to the tag or it is not.
- 3
Count requests versus confirmed orders
If the platform total sits near the request count, the wrong step is the conversion.
- 4
Check rental value against the order record
A flat value per conversion hides which equipment earns.
- 5
Separate repeat accounts
Contractors who rent monthly should not credit this week's campaign.
Source-of-truth validation
The QA evidence
Run on the live EZRentOut store with a real order, not a preview.
- A test rental placed through the store with the event received server-side and the order ID matched.
- Rental value confirmed to equal the order total for the chosen dates.
- A quote request confirmed to stay out of the purchase conversion.
- An order the renter cancels before pickup shown leaving each platform's totals.
- Repeat-account orders confirmed flagged.
- A closed month of webstore orders lined up one-to-one with each platform's conversions, with the leftovers explained.
- The same comparison run again a month on, and whenever the store's checkout or theme is edited.
Straight talk
Cases where EZRentOut stores can skip this
Plain answers, including the ones that cost us work.
- If most rentals are arranged by phone and the webstore is a catalog, track calls and the form first.
- If you only want traffic and item-view reporting in GA4, the built-in GTM option already handles it.
- If your ad spend into the store is a few hundred dollars a month, the browser-side starter is the sensible ceiling.
- If orders are always re-priced by staff before acceptance, value has to come from the back office, and that is a different job.
Who this is for
Honest about who we’re a fit for.
We don’t take every project. Here’s how to tell if we’re right for you.
You’re a great fit if…
- You run EZRentOut (or are migrating to it)
- You spend $5K+/month on paid ads (Meta, Google, TikTok, Microsoft, LinkedIn)
- Your reported ROAS doesn’t match what your bank account is saying
- You want to own your tracking stack — no monthly SaaS fees forever
- You have 2–4 days to do this once and never think about it again
Skip us if…
- You spend less than $500/month on paid ads (browser pixel is fine)
- You want a SaaS dashboard with monthly fees forever (Triple Whale, Hyros)
- You need attribution modeling — we fix the data foundation, not multi-touch reports
- You want a 6-month enterprise consulting engagement (we ship in 4 days)
- You expect us to manage your ad accounts (we don’t — that’s a different service)
If you’re still unsure, book the call anyway— we’ll tell you straight whether we can help.

Got questions?
The honestanswers.
No buzzwords, no upsell. If we don’t know, we say so.
01Can I use the GTM option in EZRentOut's Store Settings?
Yes, that is the documented way in. It loads your container on the store; what it does not do is define a rental order as a conversion, which is the part we build.
02Should a quote request count as a conversion?
Count it as a lead, not as the purchase. Bidding on requests teaches the platforms to find people who ask for prices, not people who rent.
03How do you value a rental when the price depends on dates?
From the order total EZRentOut calculates for the selected period. That way a long rental is worth more than a weekend one in your reporting.
04Will this work if my store runs on an EZRentOut address?
It can, but the identifier has to be carried across rather than assumed. We confirm on a real order whether it arrived.
05What about rentals that get cancelled or extended?
Cancellations are reversed at each destination. Extensions are a value change, and we agree with you whether to report them or leave the original value.
