Conversion tracking for Zcal bookings
Zcal's booking page lives on zcal.co, so your tags never see the moment someone books. Its redirect-on-booking setting fixes most of that: invitees land on a page you own, and the URL carries the start time, duration, answers and any utm_ parameters from the original link. It also carries their full name, email and SMS phone in plain text, which is where most homemade Zcal setups quietly send personal data into analytics.

Zcal · what breaks
What goes wrong with Zcal tracking
- 01
Personal data in the redirect URL
fullName, email and smsPhone arrive as query parameters, and a GA4 page view can record them unless they are removed first.
- 02
Only UTMs make the trip
Zcal forwards utm_ parameters from the invite URL; click IDs such as gclid are not in its documented list.
- 03
Redirect switched on for one invite link, not the rest
It is configured per link, so new links often go live without it.
- 04
Thank-you page reloads counted twice
A refreshed or bookmarked confirmation URL fires the conversion again.
Zcal · the fix
What the Zcal setup does after the rebuild
A clean booking conversion on your own domain
Fired from the redirect page, with the personal parameters removed from the URL first.
Enhanced matching done properly
The email from the redirect hashed server-side, never exposed in a page URL.
Meeting type from duration and answers
So a sales call and a quick chat are not the same conversion.
Zcal · architecture
What Zcal actually lets you do
Zcal's redirect is well documented. Everything else about tracking on zcal.co is not, so it stays a check.
- 1
Redirect on booking, per invite link
Set under Scheduling Options; sends the invitee to a URL you choose after booking.
- 2
Booking details appended to the URL
startDate, timezone, duration, locationIndex, guests and custom-question answers.
- 3
Contact details appended too
fullName, email and smsPhone, which need careful handling.
- 4
UTM passthrough
utm_campaign, utm_source, utm_medium, utm_content and utm_term forwarded from the invite URL.
- 5
Check whether zcal.co accepts GA4, a pixel or an embed
Not confirmed in the Zcal documentation we reviewed.
Zcal · diagnose
How Zcal tracking fails, and the order to test it
On Zcal the redirect page is the whole measurement, so nearly every failure is found there.
- 01
Check redirect on booking on every invite link
One unconfigured link explains a lot of missing conversions.
- 02
Search GA4 page reports for email addresses
If they are there, the redirect URL is being logged unredacted.
- 03
Book from a UTM-tagged link and read the redirect URL
Confirms passthrough works for the links used in ads.
- 04
Check where the click ID is captured
Without it, Google and Meta have less to match on.
- 05
Reload the thank-you page
If the conversion fires again, deduplication is missing.

Source of truth
Zcal's list of booked meetings, by invite link and start time
- A booking on each active invite link confirmed to redirect with the expected parameters.
- Name, email and phone confirmed absent from analytics page URLs.
- UTMs from the invite link confirmed on the conversion.
- A page reload confirmed not to create a second conversion.
- Hashed email confirmed reaching Meta and Google server-side.
- Every Zcal booking in a finished month paired with its platform conversion, or explained.
- Repeated 30 days later and whenever a new invite link is created.

Zcal · when not to buy
When you don't need this on Zcal
Zcal is free, and the tracking around it should usually be cheap too.
- If you only want to know which campaigns produce calls, the redirect page plus UTMs in GA4, with the personal parameters stripped, may be all you need.
- If you book a few calls a week from ads, optimization will not have enough volume to benefit from a server build.
- If most bookings come from links you send by email, ad attribution is not the problem to solve.
- A developer can build a clean Zcal redirect page in a few hours. We will say so if that is the whole scope.

FAQ
Zcal questions, answered
We have not confirmed native support on zcal.co. The documented route is redirect on booking to a page you control, where your own tags run.
Yes, if analytics records it. Strip fullName, email and smsPhone from the URL before any tag fires, and send the email only hashed, server-side.
Zcal forwards the five utm_ parameters from the invite link to the redirect URL. Click IDs are not in its documented list, so capture them on your site first.
Yes, using duration, locationIndex or a custom-question answer from the redirect, carried on the conversion as type or value.
Only the ones paid traffic reaches, but each of those needs redirect on booking switched on separately.
