Get your ThriveCart tracking to 95%+ accuracy guaranteed in writing.
ThriveCart's checkout converts like crazy — but its default tracking fires Pixel and Google Tag without proper dedup, without server-side CAPI, without iOS recovery. Every digital download, every course bundle, every recurring subscription routinely double-fires or vanishes entirely. We rebuild ThriveCart tracking server-side via Stripe + ThriveCart webhook, so every sale, every bump, every OTO counts exactly once.

ThriveCart · what breaks
ThriveCart-specific tracking gaps
- 01
Default Pixel fires on every funnel step
Bumps and OTOs trigger Purchase repeatedly. Reported revenue inflates 2–3×.
- 02
iOS gap is 30%+ for high-ticket courses
Course buyers skew Apple. Half of them never reach Meta.
- 03
Recurring rebills don't fire as conversions
Lifetime + recurring product mixes confuse the dataLayer.
- 04
Affiliate tracking conflicts with pixel events
ThriveCart's affiliate system can swap product_id mid-checkout, breaking attribution.
ThriveCart · the fix
Outcomes — ThriveCart
Webhook-driven server CAPI
100% capture per Stripe transaction
Each funnel step deduped
Bump, OTO, downsell — exactly once each
Renewals counted
Recurring rebills as conversions
Affiliate-safe events
product_id + value preserved through affiliate redirects
ThriveCart · architecture
How a ThriveCart order should reach the ad platforms
ThriveCart's funnel features — bumps, upsells, downsells — are the reason people choose it, and the reason naive tracking understates every offer built on it.
- 1
Click identifiers captured at first touch
Click IDs are captured on the page preceding the cart and passed into ThriveCart as custom parameters, because the cart does not inherit them.
- 2
The browser sends the fast, fragile copy
The pre-cart page fires browsing and checkout-start events. The cart itself is hosted.
- 3
The order itself is the source of truth
Each ThriveCart transaction — main, bump, upsell, downsell — is the truth, and they need summing per customer rather than reporting only the first.
- 4
A server container sends the authoritative event
The ThriveCart webhook posts each transaction to a GTM server container on your own subdomain, keyed on its transaction ID.
- 5
Customer identity raises match quality
The transaction carries buyer email and name, hashed server-side.
ThriveCart · events
The event set we build on ThriveCart, and where each one comes from
The whole event design here is about representing a multi-transaction purchase without it looking like duplication.
| Event | Fires when, on ThriveCart | Key parameters | Sent from |
|---|---|---|---|
| begin_checkout | The ThriveCart cart loads | value, currency, num_items, event_id | Browser + server, deduped |
| purchase | The main transaction succeeds | order_id, value, currency, items[], hashed email/phone/name/address, event_id | Server authoritative |
| subscription_started | A bump, upsell or downsell transaction succeeds | order_id, value, currency, plan, event_id | Server authoritative |
| subscription_renewed | A recurring or payment-plan charge succeeds | value, currency, plan | Server only |
| refund | A refund is issued | order_id, value, currency | Server only |
ThriveCart · normal or broken
ThriveCart specifics
Multi-transaction orders are correct behavior and look identical to double counting until they are handled deliberately.
Normal, not a fault
Multiple transactions per customer
By design. Distinct IDs make them distinguishable from duplicates.
Payment plans reporting over months
Cash arrives over time; the platform records each installment.
Ad platforms report more conversions than you have orders
Meta credits a 7-day click and 1-day view; Google credits on click date. Two platforms can each claim the same sale. Compare each one to your order records separately and never add them together.
Recent days always look worse than they finish
Conversions are credited back to the date of the click, so yesterday's return on ad spend is understated and will keep improving for several days. This is attribution working, not data arriving late.
Actually broken
Only the main transaction tracked
Bump and upsell revenue invisible; every offer looks worse than it is.
Click IDs not passed into the cart
Nothing attributable.
Refunds never reported
Reported return inflated by the refund rate, which in this model is often substantial.
ThriveCart · prove
How we prove the ThriveCart build is correct
The tag firing proves the tag fires. These prove the numbers are right.
Source of truth
ThriveCart transaction records
- Every transaction type confirmed tracked with a distinct ID.
- Click IDs confirmed reaching the transaction record.
- Refunds confirmed reversing conversions.
- Revenue reconciled against ThriveCart records for a closed week.
- Purchase count within a few percent of thrivecart transaction records for a fully closed week, matched on order ID rather than on totals.
- No order ID appearing twice in any platform's event log.
- Deduplication confirmed at every destination that supports it.
- Test and staff orders excluded, with the exclusion confirmed active rather than merely configured.
- The same reconciliation repeated 30 days later, because a setup that works once and then drifts is the harder failure to catch.

ThriveCart · when not to buy
When a ThriveCart rebuild is not what you need
We would rather say this now than three weeks into an engagement.
- You sell one product with no funnel at low volume.
- All sales come from an existing audience.
- You are testing an offer rather than scaling it.
