Conversion tracking for Tablein reservations

Tablein already does more than most reservation widgets: switch on its GA4 integration and each completed booking sends reservation_created, and it accepts a Google Ads conversion ID as well. What it does not give you is the number a restaurant runs on, how many covers actually sat down, or any documented route to Meta, where plenty of local restaurant advertising happens. The work here is building around Tablein's native event, not replacing it.

Tablein · what breaks

What Tablein's native tracking leaves out

  1. 01

    Reservations counted, covers ignored

A table for two and a party of ten send the same reservation_created.

  2. 02

    No-shows still count

The event fires when the table is booked; an empty table never reverses it.

  3. 03

    Meta left out

Tablein documents GA4 and Google Ads. No Meta Pixel or GTM option is documented.

  4. 04

Widget sessions split from your site

If the widget loads as a separate frame, GA4 may record the booking without the ad that brought the guest.

Tablein · the fix

What changes for a Tablein restaurant

  • Covers sent as the value

Party size on every reservation conversion.

  • Honored reservations reported back

No-shows and cancellations removed from what campaigns are credited with.

  • Meta receiving reservations server-side

From the same booking, deduplicated alongside Google's.

Tablein · architecture

What Tablein actually lets you do

Tablein documents a native GA4 integration and Google Ads conversion support. Meta and tag manager support are not documented, so those are checks.

  1. 1

    Native GA4 integration

Documented under Settings > Marketing Tools > 3rd Party Integrations. Enter your measurement ID and the widget reports to your property.

  2. 2

    reservation_created on a completed booking

Documented. A dependable browser event to build on once you confirm what it carries.

  3. 3

Google Ads conversion via your AW- ID

Documented. Check it is not also firing from a separate tag on your website, which would double-count.

  4. 4

Check whether the widget is an iframe or a popup

That decides whether GA4 joins the reservation to the session that came from the ad.

  5. 5

Check whether a Meta Pixel or GTM container can be added

Not documented. If neither can, reservations reach Meta server-side instead.

Tablein · diagnose

Where Tablein tracking breaks, in diagnostic order

Start from Tablein's own event, because it is usually working. The problems are in what it does not carry.

  1. 01

Make a reservation and watch reservation_created in GA4 DebugView

If it never appears, the measurement ID in Tablein is wrong or missing.

  2. 02

Check the session source on that reservation

If it shows the widget or a referral instead of the ad, the session is being split.

  3. 03

Look for a second Google Ads conversion on the same booking

A website tag plus Tablein's AW- setting is the common double-count.

  4. 04

Compare reservations with covers seated for a week

If one campaign brings large parties and another brings couples, a plain count treats them as equal.

  5. 05

    Ask what Meta currently receives

Often nothing, or a page view labeled as a lead.

Source of truth

Tablein's reservation book: reservations by service date, with party size and status

  • A reservation from an ad-tagged URL, with reservation_created attributed to that ad in GA4.
  • Party size confirmed on the conversion in Google Ads and Meta.
  • Exactly one Google Ads conversion per reservation.
  • A cancellation or no-show confirmed to adjust the reported result.
  • Reservations confirmed reaching Meta, deduplicated with any browser event.
  • Reconciled per reservation over a fully closed week of service.
  • Re-checked 30 days later and after any change to the widget or Tablein settings.

Tablein · when not to buy

When you don't need this on Tablein

Tablein's own integration is enough for a good number of restaurants.

  • If you advertise on Google only and Tablein's GA4 and AW- conversion fire once per booking with the right source, you already have most of what matters.
  • If most tables go to walk-ins and regulars, reservation tracking describes only part of your trade.
  • If your ad spend is small, confirming the native integration is set up correctly is a half-hour job, not a project.
  • If no-shows are rare at your restaurant, sending seated outcomes adds little over reservations.

FAQ

Tablein questions, answered

Keep it. It counts reservations but not covers or no-shows, and it does not reach Meta. We add those around Tablein's event rather than replacing it.
