Jane App · Conversion tracking
Conversion tracking for Jane App clinics
Jane sends patients from your website to your clinic's own janeapp.com subdomain to book, and it can already pass online bookings to GA4 and Google Ads through its built-in integrations. That is the trap: the native purchase data lumps a first physio assessment together with a package top-up and a gift card bought by a spouse, and if your website's tags also fire, one visit gets counted twice. Getting Jane right is mostly subtraction and separation, not more tags.

Where Jane App tracking goes wrong
Two systems claiming the same booking
Jane's native tracker and your website's tags both report it, and nobody notices for months.
Gift cards counted as patient acquisition
Jane sends purchase data for gift cards too, so a December rush looks like a winning campaign.
The hop to janeapp.com
Without cross-domain setup, GA4 credits the booking to your own website as a referral.
Meta left out
Jane documents Google trackers only, so Meta campaigns often run with no booking signal at all.
Architecture
What Jane App actually lets you do
Jane is more tracking-aware than most clinic software. The limits are in what it lumps together and what it leaves undocumented.
Step 1
A GA4 field for your Measurement ID
Jane tracks online bookings as GA4 conversions once it is pasted in.
Step 2
A separate Google Tag Manager integration
Under Settings > Integrations, where Google Analytics and Google Ads trackers are added.
Step 3
Purchase data sent automatically
For appointments, packages and gift cards alike, which is why separation matters.
Step 4
Booking data stripped of PHI and PII
Jane's stated position; it limits what can be matched, by design.
Step 5
Check: Meta Pixel and your own GTM container
Neither is documented. Confirm on your account before planning around either.
Diagnostic sequence
Where Jane App tracking breaks, in diagnostic order
Start with counting, because on Jane an inflated number is more common than a missing one.
- 1
Count conversions per real booking
Make one test booking and see how many conversions it produces in each platform.
- 2
Check the GA4 source on Jane bookings
If your own domain shows up as the referrer, cross-domain linking is missing.
- 3
Break purchases out by type
Appointments, packages and gift cards should not share one conversion action.
- 4
Isolate first visits
In a busy clinic, follow-up bookings swamp the new-patient number.
- 5
Confirm what Meta is receiving
Often nothing from Jane at all; sometimes a page view from your site posing as a lead.
Source-of-truth validation
The QA evidence on Jane App
Done on your live Jane booking site with a real appointment that the front desk then removes.
- A test booking produced exactly one conversion in each connected platform.
- GA4 attributed that booking to its campaign rather than to your own domain.
- Package and gift card sales confirmed outside the acquisition conversion.
- No patient name, email or visit reason visible in any platform's event data.
- New-patient visits reconciled per appointment over a closed month.
- Cancellations and no-shows shown as reversals in the reconciliation.
- Repeated a month on, and again whenever Jane's integration settings change.
Straight talk
When you don't need this on Jane App
Jane's built-in tracking covers more than people expect.
- If you only advertise on Google and a test booking shows one clean conversion, Jane's native integration may already be enough.
- If most online bookings are existing patients rebooking, acquisition tracking will tell you little; recall reporting will tell you more.
- If your campaigns mainly sell gift cards over the holidays, the native purchase data is arguably exactly what you want.
- A one-practitioner clinic with modest spend can remove a duplicate tag itself in an afternoon. We'll point that out.
Who this is for
Honest about who we’re a fit for.
We don’t take every project. Here’s how to tell if we’re right for you.
You’re a great fit if…
- You run Jane App (or are migrating to it)
- You spend $5K+/month on paid ads (Meta, Google, TikTok, Microsoft, LinkedIn)
- Your reported ROAS doesn’t match what your bank account is saying
- You want to own your tracking stack — no monthly SaaS fees forever
- You have 2–4 days to do this once and never think about it again
Skip us if…
- You spend less than $500/month on paid ads (browser pixel is fine)
- You want a SaaS dashboard with monthly fees forever (Triple Whale, Hyros)
- You need attribution modeling — we fix the data foundation, not multi-touch reports
- You want a 6-month enterprise consulting engagement (we ship in 4 days)
- You expect us to manage your ad accounts (we don’t — that’s a different service)
If you’re still unsure, book the call anyway— we’ll tell you straight whether we can help.

Got questions?
The honestanswers.
No buzzwords, no upsell. If we don’t know, we say so.
01Jane already tracks bookings. What would you add?
You may not. The native integration reports purchases well; the common faults are duplicates from your own site's tags and package or gift card sales counted as new patients. One test booking shows which applies.
02Can we put a Meta Pixel on Jane?
Jane does not document a Meta Pixel option, so we check your account rather than promise one. If no supported path exists, Meta is measured from your own website and reconciled against Jane bookings.
03Is any patient health information sent to Google?
Jane states its booking data is stripped of PHI and PII before it goes out. Keep it that way: no visit reasons or notes in any event, and talk to your compliance adviser about HIPAA before adding anything.
04Why does GA4 show our own website as the source of bookings?
Because the patient moved from your domain to janeapp.com and the session was not linked across. Cross-domain configuration fixes it, and one booking afterward confirms it.
05Should package renewals count as conversions?
Report them, but not as acquisition. A patient renewing a ten-visit package was already yours, and counting it lets retargeting take credit for loyalty.
