Uber Eats → Meta · Conversion tracking

Connecting Uber Eats to Meta Conversions API

Uber Eats sells you demand and then sells you advertising inside its own app, which means the platform is simultaneously your channel, your competitor for the customer relationship, and your ad network. Meta's pixel loses a large share of conversions to Safari, ad blockers and iOS, and the Conversions API exists because of it. The join between them succeeds or fails on one thing: whether the fbc and fbp values reaches the Uber Eats order before the conversion happens, because Meta can only match a conversion it can tie back to a click it recognizes.

The problem

Why this join usually fails

Uber Eats → Meta-specific issues
Leak #01

The fbc and fbp values never reaches Uber Eats

The single most common cause. Orders are placed inside the Uber app. No cookie of yours has ever existed on that surface.

Leak #02

Marketplace revenue attributed to search and social

Pooling Uber Eats revenue with website revenue is the fastest way to conclude that a campaign is working when the growth came entirely from a marketplace promotion you happened to run the same month.

Leak #03

Double counting from broken deduplication

Server and browser both fire, the event_id does not match, and Meta counts two purchases. Reported ROAS goes up, the business does not, and it can run for months before anyone reconciles against the store.

Leak #04

Nothing reconciles afterwards

An upload that succeeds is not an upload that matched. Events Manager shows received events, the deduplication state and an Event Match Quality score per event. Events arriving is not the test — deduplicated, well-matched events arriving is. Compare Meta's reported purchases against your store's order count for the same window.

Architecture

How Uber Eats and Meta actually connect

Two systems that know nothing about each other. Everything below exists to give them one shared reference.

  1. Step 1

    Uber Eats holds the truth

In-app sponsored placement performance lives in Uber's own reporting and never touches your website. Your external advertising and your in-app advertising are measuring different customers and should never be summed.

  2. Step 2

Meta Conversions API needs a click to match

Meta matches server events to people using whatever identifiers you send, hashed with SHA-256 where required. There is no single mandatory key, which is why quality varies so much between implementations — a poorly matched event is accepted, reported, and worth much less than it appears.

  3. Step 3

    The identifier is the bridge

The fbc and fbp values, captured at the visit and carried into the Uber Eats order. Without it there is nothing to join on and no tool fixes that.

  4. Step 4

    The event source decides reliability

If you send anything at all, send net payout per order, and label the channel so it can be excluded from any return-on-spend calculation for external campaigns.

  5. Step 5

    Deduplication at the destination

Meta deduplicates on the pair of event_name and event_id. The browser pixel and the server event must send the same event_id for the same conversion, within the deduplication window. Get this wrong and every purchase counts twice — which is by far the most common Conversions API failure and it inflates reported ROAS rather than reducing it.

Diagnose it honestly

Working vs. broken, side by side

Both states look identical from the Meta dashboard, which is why this runs for months before anyone notices.

Normal — not a fault

  • The fbc and fbp values present on the order

Visible on the record itself in Uber Eats, not merely captured somewhere on the site.

  • Sent from the Uber Eats order report

Server-side, so it does not depend on the customer's browser still being there.

  • Deduplicated correctly

Meta deduplicates on the pair of event_name and event_id. The browser pixel and the server event must send the same event_id for the same conversion, within the deduplication window. Get this wrong and every purchase counts twice — which is by far the most common Conversions API failure and it inflates reported ROAS rather than reducing it.

  • Reconciles with the source

Meta's count and Uber Eats's records agree within a few percent over a closed window.

Actually broken

  • The fbc and fbp values missing on most records

Orders are placed inside the Uber app. No cookie of yours has ever existed on that surface.

  • Sent from the browser

Anyone who closes the tab, blocks the script or converts without a page load is invisible. Pooling Uber Eats revenue with website revenue is the fastest way to conclude that a campaign is working when the growth came entirely from a marketplace promotion you happened to run the same month.

  • Counted twice, or not at all

Server and browser both fire, the event_id does not match, and Meta counts two purchases. Reported ROAS goes up, the business does not, and it can run for months before anyone reconciles against the store.

  • Nobody has reconciled it

The dashboard shows a number and no one has compared it to Uber Eats. A wrong number that nobody checks is indistinguishable from a right one.

Diagnostic sequence

Diagnostic order

Each step rules out a class of cause. Run them in order and the last one usually has a single explanation standing.

  1. 1

Count orders carrying the fbc and fbp values

The ceiling on everything else. Do this before debugging anything downstream.

  2. 2

Follow one real conversion end to end

From the ad click through Uber Eats and into Meta.

  3. 3

Confirm the channel is excluded, not included

For most restaurants the correct integration here is a deliberate exclusion, documented so nobody re-adds it in six months.

  4. 4

Read Event Match Quality and the deduplication indicator

In Events Manager, open the event and check both. A low match quality means weak identifiers; a missing deduplication indicator means your event_id pairing is broken.

  5. 5

Read the match rate, not the success message

Events Manager shows received events, the deduplication state and an Event Match Quality score per event. Events arriving is not the test — deduplicated, well-matched events arriving is. Compare Meta's reported purchases against your store's order count for the same window.

Source-of-truth validation

How it gets proven

Against Uber Eats's own records, not against either platform's dashboard.

Source of truthUber Eats orders by store, net of the service and delivery fees you actually bear.
  • The fbc and fbp values confirmed present on a live order.
  • A real conversion followed from click through Uber Eats to Meta.
  • Deduplication confirmed in Events Manager on a real purchase, with the browser and server events visibly paired rather than counted twice.
  • Uber Eats revenue reported as its own line, demonstrably absent from imported conversions.
  • Reconciled over a fully closed window, matched per record rather than on totals.
  • Re-checked 30 days later.

Straight talk

When you don't need this

Worth reading before paying anyone, including us.

  • If Meta already reports conversions that reconcile against Uber Eats's records within a few percent, this join is working and there is nothing to buy.
  • Measure identifier coverage yourself first — pull your last hundred orders and count how many carry the fbc and fbp values. Ten minutes, free, and it tells you whether any of this is worth doing.
  • This is the common case, not the exception. If Uber Eats is purely a marketplace channel for you, skip the integration and spend the effort on your direct ordering path.
  • If you are not running Meta ads at meaningful spend, the Conversions API is effort without payoff. It earns its cost when the optimization signal is worth improving.

Who this is for

Honest about who we’re a fit for.

We don’t take every project. Here’s how to tell if we’re right for you.

Good fit

You’re a great fit if…

  • You run Uber Eats → Meta (or are migrating to it)
  • You spend $5K+/month on paid ads (Meta, Google, TikTok, Microsoft, LinkedIn)
  • Your reported ROAS doesn’t match what your bank account is saying
  • You want to own your tracking stack — no monthly SaaS fees forever
  • You have 2–4 days to do this once and never think about it again
Not a fit

Skip us if…

  • You spend less than $500/month on paid ads (browser pixel is fine)
  • You want a SaaS dashboard with monthly fees forever (Triple Whale, Hyros)
  • You need attribution modeling — we fix the data foundation, not multi-touch reports
  • You want a 6-month enterprise consulting engagement (we ship in 4 days)
  • You expect us to manage your ad accounts (we don’t — that’s a different service)

If you’re still unsure, book the call anyway— we’ll tell you straight whether we can help.

What you get

What gets built

Item 01

Identifier capture into Uber Eats

There is no identifier to carry. The honest configuration reports Uber Eats as an unattributable revenue channel and measures it on its own terms.

Item 02

Event source: the Uber Eats order report

If you send anything at all, send net payout per order, and label the channel so it can be excluded from any return-on-spend calculation for external campaigns.

Item 03

Dispatch to Meta

Server-side events to the Conversions API with the event_id matched to the pixel, action_source set correctly, and customer data hashed before it leaves your infrastructure.

Item 04

Reversals where they exist

Order adjustments and refunds reduce the figure.

Pricing

Pick the package that fits your ad spend

Fixed-fee, no surprises. If your ad spend is meaningful,server-side tracking is what we recommend— it’s the only setup that survives iOS, Safari ITP and ad blockers.

Got questions?

The honestanswers.

No buzzwords, no upsell. If we don’t know, we say so.

01Why aren't my Uber Eats conversions showing in Meta?

Almost always because the fbc and fbp values never reached the Uber Eats order. Orders are placed inside the Uber app. No cookie of yours has ever existed on that surface. Measure coverage before debugging the dispatch.

02What identifier does Meta need?

Two things. The _fbc cookie, derived from the fbclid parameter on the landing URL in the format fb.1.<timestamp>.<fbclid>, is the click identifier. The _fbp cookie is the browser identifier. Beyond those, Meta matches on hashed customer information — email, phone, name, city, country — and every additional field raises the Event Match Quality score. Unlike Google, Meta does not need a click ID at all if the customer data is good, but match quality drops noticeably without it.

03Where should the event come from?

The Uber Eats order report. If you send anything at all, send net payout per order, and label the channel so it can be excluded from any return-on-spend calculation for external campaigns.

04How do I know it worked?

Events Manager shows received events, the deduplication state and an Event Match Quality score per event. Events arriving is not the test — deduplicated, well-matched events arriving is. Compare Meta's reported purchases against your store's order count for the same window.
