Conversion tracking for TrekkSoft tours and activities
TrekkSoft's booking widget opens as a popup on your own site, walks the guest through schedule, calendar, tickets, add-ons and guest details, then hands them to a hosted payment page. It fires named events at each of those steps and two different success events, and the difference matters: hpp-status-success counts only payments through the gateway, while Booking-success also counts free tours and 100% voucher bookings. Pick the wrong one and your ad platforms either miss bookings or get credited for free ones.

TrekkSoft · what breaks
What goes wrong on TrekkSoft
- 01
Two success events that count different things
One fires only on gateway payments; the other also fires on free and fully discounted bookings.
- 02
The payment step on another domain
The hosted payment page sits outside your site, and the session can split there.
- 03
Widget events that never reach your own tags
Unless your gtag config includes the merchantTracker group, TrekkSoft's step events do not land in your property.
- 04
Party size lost
A booking for six counted like a booking for one when only the conversion fires.
TrekkSoft · the fix
What changes — TrekkSoft
Paid bookings at their real value
Tickets for every guest plus add-ons, sent as one purchase.
The booking funnel visible step by step
So drop-off between choosing tickets and paying shows up.
A server-side copy of every booking
Deduplicated against the widget's browser events.
TrekkSoft · architecture
What TrekkSoft actually lets you do
Drawn from TrekkSoft's GA4 implementation guide. Meta is the part we treat as unconfirmed.
- 1
Google tag and GTM ID fields
In the checkout tracking settings and the Google app settings in the Admin Desk.
- 2
Named events at every widget step
Schedule type, calendar, tickets, add-ons, checkout, guests, payment and thank-you.
- 3
Two success events
hpp-status-success for gateway payments; Booking-success including free and voucher bookings.
- 4
The merchantTracker gtag group
How the widget's events reach your own tags.
- 5
A custom thank-you redirect
Supported through a tracking script, but only with the modal (popup) integration.
TrekkSoft · diagnose
Where TrekkSoft tracking breaks, in diagnostic order
TrekkSoft gives you more events than most tour systems. The faults are usually in which ones got picked.
- 01
Check which success event is marked as the conversion
This alone explains most gaps.
- 02
Check merchantTracker is in your gtag config
Without it, widget events never reach your property.
- 03
Follow one booking through the payment page
And see whether the session survives the change of domain.
- 04
Check the value includes add-ons and every guest
Not just the first ticket.
- 05
Count how often Meta receives each purchase
With no documented native pixel, a GTM install plus a thank-you redirect can easily double it.

Source of truth
TrekkSoft's booking records: paid, free and voucher bookings by date, with guest counts and totals
- A paid booking through the popup widget, with each step event seen in your own GA4 property.
- Payment completed on the hosted page and shown to return a single paid conversion.
- A free or 100% voucher booking shown to send no revenue.
- Guest count and add-ons shown in the conversion value.
- Cancelled bookings shown to reverse.
- Paid bookings matched one by one over a closed window.
- Re-checked 30 days later and after any widget or payment change.

TrekkSoft · when not to buy
When you don't need this on TrekkSoft
TrekkSoft's own GA4 setup is better than most. Sometimes it is enough.
- If you only need GA4 and have connected merchantTracker with the right success event, the native setup may already be enough.
- If most guests book through resellers or travel marketplaces, the widget is not where your revenue starts; measure those channels first.
- If you run free tours on tips, there is no purchase value to send; count bookings and turn-up instead.
- If your ad spend is small and seasonal, a verified GA4 setup before the season opens may cover it.
