Conversion tracking for Sesami appointments on Shopify
Sesami turns appointments into Shopify products, and a booking takes one of two paths. Through Shopify checkout it becomes an order and is picked up by your store's normal purchase tracking. Set to skip checkout, it never becomes an order, and nothing we could confirm fires for it. Most stores run some of each, so half the bookings look like retail purchases and the other half do not exist.

Sesami · what breaks
How Sesami bookings get lost or mislabelled
- 01
Skip-checkout bookings invisible
No Shopify order means no Shopify purchase event. If those appointments are free consultations or pay-in-store, the ads that drove them get nothing.
- 02
Appointments counted as merchandise
Through checkout, a booking is just another order, so a fitting or a class and a product sale arrive as the same purchase.
- 03
Deposits read as full revenue, or the reverse
Sesami supports deposits. The order value can be the deposit while the service is worth far more.
- 04
Rescheduled and cancelled appointments
The order stays, the appointment moves or disappears, and the conversion is never corrected.
Sesami · the fix
What changes on a Sesami store
Every booking counted, with or without checkout
One booking event, whatever the path.
Services reported apart from products
So bidding can tell an appointment buyer from a shopper.
Deposit and service value both recorded
Sent so neither is mistaken for the other.
Sesami · architecture
What Sesami actually lets you do
Confirmed from Sesami's Shopify listing, plus the parts to test.
- 1
Appointments sold as Shopify products
With pricing, discounts, locations and POS support like any other product.
- 2
Two booking paths: through checkout or skipping it
Only bookings through checkout create an order and follow your store's purchase tracking.
- 3
An API and SDK
The route to bookings that skip checkout and to appointment status changes.
- 4
Klaviyo on the Pro tier, and Sesami Flows for email and webhook automations
Check how many flows your tier includes; a webhook flow on a new booking is a server-side trigger.
- 5
Booking-specific pixel or GA4 events: unverified
Check whether Sesami fires anything of its own for skip-checkout bookings before relying on it.
Sesami · diagnose
Where Sesami tracking breaks, in diagnostic order
Start with the booking path, because on Sesami it decides whether anything fires at all.
- 01
Check which services skip checkout
Every one of those is currently untracked unless something custom was built.
- 02
Find appointments in your purchase reports
If they are mixed with product orders, service performance cannot be seen.
- 03
Compare order value with service value on deposit bookings
A large difference means the platforms are learning the wrong number.
- 04
Cancel a test appointment
Then check whether the conversion was reversed anywhere.
- 05
Count Sesami appointments against reported conversions
Over a closed month, by path.
Sesami · prove
How the Sesami setup is checked
Tested on your live store with real bookings down both paths.
Source of truth
Sesami's appointment records and the matching Shopify orders, appointments by date with service and amount paid
- A checkout booking recorded once, flagged as a service, at the order value.
- A skip-checkout booking recorded even though no order exists.
- A deposit booking sent with the deposit and the full service value distinct.
- A cancellation confirmed to reverse the conversion.
- Product purchases confirmed unaffected and still tracked as before.
- Appointments reconciled one to one over a closed month.
- Re-checked 30 days later and after any Sesami or theme update.

Sesami · when not to buy
When you don't need this on Sesami
Shopify already does a lot here. These are the cases where it is enough.
- If every Sesami service goes through checkout and your purchase tracking is sound, you may only need to label service orders.
- If appointments are a small add-on to a product store and nobody runs ads for them, leave them inside normal purchase reporting.
- If you only take bookings in store through POS, online ad tracking does not apply.
- If your skip-checkout bookings are internal or by invitation, there is no ad click to attribute.

FAQ
Sesami questions, answered
Only the ones that go through Shopify checkout, because those create orders. Bookings set to skip checkout do not.
We could not confirm booking-specific events. Test a skip-checkout booking and see what arrives before assuming anything.
Flag service products on the conversion, so reporting and bidding can see appointment buyers separately from shoppers.
The deposit as the paid amount and the full service value as a separate parameter, so neither is mistaken for the other.
Flows include webhook automations, which can trigger a server-side event; check your tier's limit. Klaviyo is for email, not ad conversions.
