Get your SamCart tracking to 95%+ accuracy guaranteed in writing.
SamCart is built for high-converting funnels: order bumps, OTOs, downsells, subscriptions. The default Pixel install fires Purchase events on every step — main, OTO 1, OTO 2, downsell — without proper deduplication. Meta sees 3–4× the actual revenue, can't trust the data, and quietly throttles your campaigns. We rebuild SamCart tracking server-side with deduped Stripe-webhook-driven Purchase events so every funnel step counts exactly once.

SamCart · what breaks
Why SamCart funnel ROAS lies
- 01
OTOs + downsells fire Purchase on every step
Without dedup, Meta double-counts. Reported ROAS inflates 2–4×. The algorithm bids on lies and your real CPA rots.
- 02
iOS users vanish on every funnel hop
Browser-only pixels lose a substantial share of iOS users at the first redirect — and SamCart funnels redirect on every step.
- 03
Subscription renewals invisible
Recurring revenue from SamCart subscriptions never reaches Meta or Google as new conversions. Smart Bidding optimizes initial cart only.
- 04
Coupon / order-bump confuses value
Order bumps + sitewide coupons applied at the wrong layer skew reported revenue per conversion.

Outcomes — SamCart

OTO + bump deduped
Each funnel step fires exactly once, with the right value.

No more inflated reports vs reality.
SamCart · architecture
How a SamCart order should reach the ad platforms
SamCart is a checkout, which means it sits between your traffic source and your product — and it is the point where most attribution gets dropped.
- 1
Click identifiers captured at first touch
Click IDs are captured on the page before the checkout and passed into SamCart as custom fields, because the checkout does not read the referring page's URL parameters.
- 2
The browser sends the fast, fragile copy
The pre-checkout page fires the browsing and checkout-start events. SamCart's own checkout is hosted.
- 3
The order itself is the source of truth
The SamCart order, including order bumps and one-click upsells, is the truth. Each is a separate transaction.
- 4
A server container sends the authoritative event
The SamCart webhook posts each transaction to a GTM server container on your own subdomain, keyed on its own order ID.
- 5
Customer identity raises match quality
The order carries buyer email, name and billing address, hashed server-side.
SamCart · events
The event set we build on SamCart, and where each one comes from
Bumps and upsells are separate money events. Collapsing them understates average order value; reusing an ID discards them.
| Event | Fires when, on SamCart | Key parameters | Sent from |
|---|---|---|---|
| begin_checkout | The SamCart checkout page loads | value, currency, num_items, event_id | Browser + server, deduped |
| purchase | The main order payment succeeds | order_id, value, currency, items[], hashed email/phone/name/address, event_id | Server authoritative |
| subscription_started | An order bump or one-click upsell payment succeeds | order_id, value, currency, plan, event_id | Server authoritative |
| subscription_renewed | A recurring charge succeeds | value, currency, plan | Server only |
| refund | A refund is issued | order_id, value, currency | Server only |
SamCart · normal or broken
Checkout-platform specifics — SamCart
Everything here comes back to the handoff between your page and SamCart's.
Normal, not a fault
Several transactions for one customer
Main order, bump and upsell are genuinely separate. Each needs its own ID.
SamCart totals differing from your ad platform totals
Attribution versus cash accounting.
Ad platforms report more conversions than you have orders
Meta credits a 7-day click and 1-day view; Google credits on click date. Two platforms can each claim the same sale. Compare each one to your order records separately and never add them together.
Recent days always look worse than they finish
Conversions are credited back to the date of the click, so yesterday's return on ad spend is understated and will keep improving for several days. This is attribution working, not data arriving late.
Actually broken
Click IDs not passed into the checkout
Every sale is unattributed. This is the default state unless it is built deliberately.
Only the main order tracked
Bump and upsell revenue invisible, so the offer looks less profitable than it is.
Recurring charges never reported
Lifetime value understated and subscription offers underinvested in.
SamCart · prove
How we prove the SamCart build is correct
The tag firing proves the tag fires. These prove the numbers are right.
Source of truth
SamCart order records
- Click IDs confirmed reaching the SamCart order record.
- Bumps and upsells confirmed tracked as distinct transactions.
- Recurring charges confirmed reporting.
- Revenue reconciled against SamCart records for a closed week.
- Purchase count within a few percent of samcart order records for a fully closed week, matched on order ID rather than on totals.
- No order ID appearing twice in any platform's event log.
- Deduplication confirmed at every destination that supports it.
- Test and staff orders excluded, with the exclusion confirmed active rather than merely configured.
- The same reconciliation repeated 30 days later, because a setup that works once and then drifts is the harder failure to catch.

SamCart · when not to buy
When a SamCart rebuild is not what you need
We would rather say this now than three weeks into an engagement.
- You sell one product with no bumps or upsells at low volume.
- Your traffic is all from an existing list rather than paid.
- You are moving to a different checkout.
