Salesforce → Snapchat · Conversion tracking
Connecting Salesforce to Snapchat
Salesforce holds the opportunity, the amount and the close — the only place the actual revenue outcome is recorded. Snapchat's audience is young, almost entirely mobile and inside an in-app browser, which is the least forgiving environment for browser-based tracking anywhere in paid media. The join between them succeeds or fails on one thing: whether the ScCid click identifier reaches the Salesforce Lead or Opportunity before the conversion happens, because Snapchat can only match a conversion it can tie back to a click it recognizes.

Why this join usually fails
The ScCid click identifier never reaches Salesforce
The single most common cause. Lead conversion is where identifiers die. A custom field on Lead that has no mapped counterpart on Contact or Opportunity is silently discarded when the Lead converts, and nobody notices until months of data are unattributable.
The identifier is lost at lead conversion
This one failure explains most broken Salesforce attribution. The data is captured correctly, then thrown away by a mapping nobody configured.
The in-app browser loses the identifier
Snapchat traffic arrives through a webview with inconsistent storage. Anything relying on the identifier still being in the browser at conversion time will lose a large share, and the loss is invisible unless you measure capture on Snapchat traffic specifically.
Nothing reconciles afterwards
An upload that succeeds is not an upload that matched. Snapchat Ads Manager shows received and matched events. Arriving is not the test — deduplicated and matched is. Reconcile against your own records for the same window.
Architecture
How Salesforce and Snapchat actually connect
Two systems that know nothing about each other. Everything below exists to give them one shared reference.
Step 1
Salesforce holds the truth
The opportunity carries the amount, stage and close date. Because Leads convert into Contacts, Accounts and Opportunities, the identifier must be mapped through the conversion or it is dropped exactly at the moment the record becomes valuable.
Step 2
Snapchat needs a click to match
Snapchat matches server events on the click identifier and hashed customer information. Send both — on this traffic the fallback carries a meaningful share of the events.
Step 3
The identifier is the bridge
The ScCid click identifier, captured at the visit and carried into the Salesforce Lead or Opportunity. Without it there is nothing to join on and no tool fixes that.
Step 4
The event source decides reliability
Fire on the transition into Closed Won, carrying the amount and the identifier. Note that Salesforce's own advertising integrations vary in what they support — build on the record, not on a connector that might change.
Step 5
Deduplication at the destination
Snapchat deduplicates on a client-supplied event identifier shared between the pixel and the Conversions API, the same pattern as Meta. Mismatched identifiers mean double counting.
Diagnose it honestly
Working vs. broken, side by side
Both states look identical from the Snapchat dashboard, which is why this runs for months before anyone notices.
Normal — not a fault
The ScCid click identifier present on the opportunity
Visible on the record itself in Salesforce, not merely captured somewhere on the site.
Sent from a Salesforce flow, Apex trigger or scheduled export on StageName change
Server-side, so it does not depend on the customer's browser still being there.
Deduplicated correctly
Snapchat deduplicates on a client-supplied event identifier shared between the pixel and the Conversions API, the same pattern as Meta. Mismatched identifiers mean double counting.
Reconciles with the source
Snapchat's count and Salesforce's records agree within a few percent over a closed window.
Actually broken
The ScCid click identifier missing on most records
Lead conversion is where identifiers die. A custom field on Lead that has no mapped counterpart on Contact or Opportunity is silently discarded when the Lead converts, and nobody notices until months of data are unattributable.
Sent from the browser
Anyone who closes the tab, blocks the script or converts without a page load is invisible. This one failure explains most broken Salesforce attribution. The data is captured correctly, then thrown away by a mapping nobody configured.
Counted twice, or not at all
Snapchat traffic arrives through a webview with inconsistent storage. Anything relying on the identifier still being in the browser at conversion time will lose a large share, and the loss is invisible unless you measure capture on Snapchat traffic specifically.
Nobody has reconciled it
The dashboard shows a number and no one has compared it to Salesforce. A wrong number that nobody checks is indistinguishable from a right one.
Diagnostic sequence
Diagnostic order
Each step rules out a class of cause. Run them in order and the last one usually has a single explanation standing.
- 1
Count opportunitys carrying the ScCid click identifier
The ceiling on everything else. Do this before debugging anything downstream.
- 2
Follow one real conversion end to end
From the ad click through Salesforce and into Snapchat.
- 3
Convert a test Lead and inspect the resulting Opportunity
If the identifier is not on the Opportunity, the field mapping is missing. This takes five minutes and rules out the most likely cause outright.
- 4
Measure capture rate on Snapchat traffic alone
The in-app browser is the failure case, so a healthy overall rate can hide a poor one on precisely the traffic you are paying for.
- 5
Read the match rate, not the success message
Snapchat Ads Manager shows received and matched events. Arriving is not the test — deduplicated and matched is. Reconcile against your own records for the same window.
Source-of-truth validation
How it gets proven
Against Salesforce's own records, not against either platform's dashboard.
- The ScCid click identifier confirmed present on a live opportunity.
- A real conversion followed from click through Salesforce to Snapchat.
- Capture rate measured on Snapchat traffic specifically, and deduplication confirmed on a real conversion.
- A test lead converted end to end with the identifier confirmed present on the resulting opportunity.
- Reconciled over a fully closed window, matched per record rather than on totals.
- Re-checked 30 days later.
Straight talk
When you don't need this
Worth reading before paying anyone, including us.
- If Snapchat already reports conversions that reconcile against Salesforce's records within a few percent, this join is working and there is nothing to buy.
- Measure identifier coverage yourself first — pull your last hundred opportunitys and count how many carry the ScCid click identifier. Ten minutes, free, and it tells you whether any of this is worth doing.
- If your Salesforce instance is heavily customized and administered by another team, scope their availability before commissioning this — the build is usually blocked on admin access rather than on the tracking work.
- If your customers are not in Snapchat's age profile, the channel is the wrong question and no measurement work fixes that.
Who this is for
Honest about who we’re a fit for.
We don’t take every project. Here’s how to tell if we’re right for you.
You’re a great fit if…
- You run Salesforce → Snapchat (or are migrating to it)
- You spend $5K+/month on paid ads (Meta, Google, TikTok, Microsoft, LinkedIn)
- Your reported ROAS doesn’t match what your bank account is saying
- You want to own your tracking stack — no monthly SaaS fees forever
- You have 2–4 days to do this once and never think about it again
Skip us if…
- You spend less than $500/month on paid ads (browser pixel is fine)
- You want a SaaS dashboard with monthly fees forever (Triple Whale, Hyros)
- You need attribution modeling — we fix the data foundation, not multi-touch reports
- You want a 6-month enterprise consulting engagement (we ship in 4 days)
- You expect us to manage your ad accounts (we don’t — that’s a different service)
If you’re still unsure, book the call anyway— we’ll tell you straight whether we can help.
What working looks like
The ScCid click identifier on every opportunity
Server-sideCaptured before the conversion and stored where it survives.
Conversions arriving in Snapchat
8+ EMQEvents appear in Snapchat Ads Manager, deduplicated against the pixel, and become usable for optimization.
Reconciled against the source
DedupedSalesforce's own records are the reference, not either dashboard.
What gets built
Identifier capture into Salesforce
Custom field on Lead, matching custom field on Contact and Opportunity, and the field mapping configured so conversion carries it across. Verify by converting a test lead and reading the resulting opportunity.
Event source: a Salesforce flow, Apex trigger or scheduled export on StageName change
Fire on the transition into Closed Won, carrying the amount and the identifier. Note that Salesforce's own advertising integrations vary in what they support — build on the record, not on a connector that might change.
Dispatch to Snapchat
Server events to the Snapchat Conversions API with the click identifier, hashed customer data and a matched event identifier.
Reversals where they exist
An opportunity moved back out of Closed Won can be retracted, and enterprise pipelines do this often enough to be worth wiring.
Pick the package that fits your ad spend
Fixed-fee, no surprises. If your ad spend is meaningful,server-side tracking is what we recommend— it’s the only setup that survives iOS, Safari ITP and ad blockers.
Browser-side starter
Wires the join and verifies it on a live conversion. Honest about its ceiling where the source can only be read from the browser.
- The join built and tested end to end
- Verified on a real conversion
- Reconciled against the source's own records
- Written handover
1st-party server-side
Save $18K–$120K over 5 years vs Triple Whale / Hyros
The join built server-side from the source's own records, so it does not depend on a browser being present when the conversion happens.
- Events sourced from the system of record, not the browser
- Identifier captured and persisted end to end
- Deduplicated at the destination
- Reversals wired where the source supports them
- 95%+ accuracy guaranteed in writing
Full 1st-party stack
Every destination fed from one place, plus monitoring so a broken join surfaces in days rather than at quarter end.
- Everything in 1st-party server-side
- All paid destinations from one container
- CRM and offline loop
- Refunds and cancellations reversed everywhere
- Monitoring per destination

Got questions?
The honestanswers.
No buzzwords, no upsell. If we don’t know, we say so.
01Why aren't my Salesforce conversions showing in Snapchat?
Almost always because the ScCid click identifier never reached the Salesforce Lead or Opportunity. Lead conversion is where identifiers die. A custom field on Lead that has no mapped counterpart on Contact or Opportunity is silently discarded when the Lead converts, and nobody notices until months of data are unattributable. Measure coverage before debugging the dispatch.
02What identifier does Snapchat need?
Snapchat's click identifier, appended to your landing page URL. Snapchat also matches on hashed email, phone and mobile advertising IDs. The environment is the problem: traffic arrives inside Snapchat's in-app browser, whose storage behaviour is inconsistent, so an identifier that is captured but not immediately persisted server-side often is not there by the time the conversion happens.
03Where should the event come from?
A Salesforce flow, Apex trigger or scheduled export on StageName change. Fire on the transition into Closed Won, carrying the amount and the identifier. Note that Salesforce's own advertising integrations vary in what they support — build on the record, not on a connector that might change.
04How do I know it worked?
Snapchat Ads Manager shows received and matched events. Arriving is not the test — deduplicated and matched is. Reconcile against your own records for the same window.
