Get your Podia tracking to 95%+ accuracy guaranteed in writing.
Podia powers course creators, membership communities, digital download stores, and live coaching businesses. But Podia's default tracking is browser-only Pixel + GA — no CAPI, no recurring renewal tracking, no iOS recovery, no proper bundle event spec. Course launches lose attributed sales. We rebuild Podia tracking server-side with full webhook integration so every launch, every renewal, every digital product sale flows back to Meta and Google.

Podia · what breaks
Podia tracking gaps
- 01
Browser-only Pixel = iOS gap
a meaningful share of course buyers skew iOS. Lost.
- 02
Membership renewals never fire
Recurring revenue invisible to Meta/Google.
- 03
Bundle dataLayer breaks
Course bundles fire wrong product_id or zero value.
- 04
Live-coaching session bookings missed
Coaching sales fire as page views, not conversions.

Podia · architecture
How a Podia order should reach the ad platforms
Podia sells courses, downloads, memberships and coaching from one storefront, and each of those revenue types behaves differently — which is exactly what most Podia tracking ignores.
- 1
Click identifiers captured at first touch
Click IDs are captured on the storefront or sales page at landing and stored in a first-party cookie, because Podia's checkout does not preserve query parameters.
- 2
The browser sends the fast, fragile copy
Podia's code injection fires browsing and checkout-start events. The checkout is hosted and closed.
- 3
The order itself is the source of truth
The Podia order, and each membership renewal, is the truth. Buyers routinely go straight into the product without rendering a thank-you page.
- 4
A server container sends the authoritative event
A Podia webhook or relay posts orders and renewals to a GTM server container on your own subdomain, keyed on the order ID.
- 5
Customer identity raises match quality
The order carries buyer email and name, hashed server-side before it leaves.
Podia · events
The event set we build on Podia, and where each one comes from
A one-off download and a monthly membership are worth very different amounts. Sending them as the same event teaches bidding nothing useful.
| Event | Fires when, on Podia | Key parameters | Sent from |
|---|---|---|---|
| view_item | A product or sales page renders | item_id, value, currency, event_id | Browser + server, deduped |
| begin_checkout | The Podia checkout opens | value, currency, num_items, event_id | Browser + server, deduped |
| purchase | A one-off product payment succeeds | order_id, value, currency, items[], hashed email/phone/name/address, event_id | Server authoritative |
| membership_started | A membership's first charge succeeds | plan, value, currency, hashed email, event_id | Server authoritative |
| subscription_renewed | A membership renews | value, currency, plan | Server only |
| subscription_canceled | A membership is cancelled | hashed email, plan | Server only |
| refund | A refund is issued | order_id, value, currency | Server only |
Podia · normal or broken
Podia specifics
Mixed product types are the defining complication here.
Normal, not a fault
Free downloads outnumbering paid sales
Expected funnel shape for a creator storefront.
Hosted checkout script restrictions
A platform boundary, and the reason the webhook carries the load.
Ad platforms report more conversions than you have orders
Meta credits a 7-day click and 1-day view; Google credits on click date. Two platforms can each claim the same sale. Compare each one to your order records separately and never add them together.
Recent days always look worse than they finish
Conversions are credited back to the date of the click, so yesterday's return on ad spend is understated and will keep improving for several days. This is attribution working, not data arriving late.
Actually broken
Free lead magnets counted as purchases
Bidding optimizes toward people who take free things.
Memberships valued at first-month price only
Recurring revenue is invisible, so memberships look far less valuable than one-off sales and get underinvested in.
Cancellations never reported back
Reported lifetime value stays permanently inflated.
Podia · prove
How we prove the Podia build is correct
The tag firing proves the tag fires. These prove the numbers are right.
Source of truth
Podia order and subscription records
- Free and paid conversions confirmed separated.
- Membership renewals and cancellations confirmed reporting.
- Revenue reconciled against Podia records for a closed month.
- Purchase count within a few percent of podia order and subscription records for a fully closed week, matched on order ID rather than on totals.
- No order ID appearing twice in any platform's event log.
- Deduplication confirmed at every destination that supports it.
- Test and staff orders excluded, with the exclusion confirmed active rather than merely configured.
- The same reconciliation repeated 30 days later, because a setup that works once and then drifts is the harder failure to catch.

When a Podia rebuild is not what you need
We would rather say this now than three weeks into an engagement.
- You sell to an existing audience with no paid acquisition.
- Low volume and low ad spend.
- You are pre-launch.

Foundation pixel install for your Podia store. Honest disclosure: this is a starting point only. If you spend $1K+/month on paid media you should be on the 1st-party server-side tier — rather than quote you a recovery percentage, we'll show you how to measure your own gap: compare what the platforms reported against the orders in your backend for the same week. That ratio is the entire argument, and it's yours to check — see trackingconsulting.com/measurement-accuracy-methodology.
