Advertising and enrollment tracking for schools and childcare
A childcare center, a tutoring company or a private school is paid for an enrollment, and an enrollment happens weeks or months after the click. A parent calls, books a tour, visits, joins a waitlist and signs up when a seat opens. The ad platform saw the call or the form and nothing after it. So the campaign gets better at producing tour requests from families who were never going to enroll, and nobody can say what an enrolled child actually cost.
Phone is still the main channel for childcare centers and driving schools, and the person who answers it is often in a classroom or a car. Tutoring, music and dance schools get more forms and online sign-ups, frequently through embedded forms from Jackrabbit Class, TutorBird or the school's own enrollment system, which can break tracking on the parent page. Private schools and career colleges run on inquiry and application forms with a long admissions cycle. Capacity is the hidden budget rule: a full classroom or an instructor with no open slots turns paid leads into a waitlist.
Local Services Ads list child care, preschools, tutors, driving instructors, dance instructors, language instructors and several training schools, and advertisers there carry the single Google Verified badge. Private K-12 schools and music schools were not on the list we read. Eligible niches face the same missed-call charging as other LSA categories and the move of LSA into Google Ads, so a center that runs both should know which channel booked which tour.
The rules are mostly about who you can reach. Ads should speak to parents and adult learners. Google does not personalize ads for users under 18, and Meta limits teen targeting. Hiring ads for teachers and staff fall under Meta's employment special ad category and Google's US rules for employment ads, which block targeting by age, gender, parental status or ZIP code, so keep recruiting campaigns separate from enrollment campaigns. Child and family details should never travel in URLs or pixel events.
The record that counts lives in the enrollment system: brightwheel, Procare or LineLeader for childcare, Blackbaud, Finalsite or Ravenna for private schools, TutorCruncher or Teachworks for tutoring, Drive Scout for driving schools, and Salesforce or LeadSquared for colleges. No vendor in our research confirms a native Google Ads conversion import, so sending enrollments back usually means storing the click ID with the inquiry and uploading the outcome later. Each niche below has the tracking guide and, where they exist, the Google Ads playbook and the Local Services Ads guide.
