How to track demo request to opportunity for Reddit Ads
A demo request is a form fill, and a large share of them are students, competitors and people who will never buy. What separates a good channel from a cheap one is the rate at which requests become qualified opportunities — and that's invisible to bidding unless the qualification outcome is sent back. On Reddit Ads the specifics that matter are the click identifier (the rdt_cid click identifier), the import mechanism (the Reddit Conversions API), and Reddit deduplicates on the conversion ID carried on both the pixel event and the server event. The chain only works end to end if the identifier is captured on landing and stored on the lead and opportunity records in your CRM — no cookie survives the gap between ad click and qualification sent back.

Where this funnel usually breaks
Qualification never defined
So quality disputes between marketing and sales are two opinions with no referee, and nothing can be sent back.
Requested and attended treated as one
A demo nobody showed up to isn't a signal worth paying for.
The identifier lost at lead conversion
Same failure as every CRM funnel: the field is on Lead, the Opportunity has nothing, and nothing errors.

Reddit demo-to-opportunity: technical buyers who avoid sales calls
On Reddit, send Lead for the demo request and a qualified-stage event from your CRM, both through the Conversions API, matched on the rdt_cid stored on the lead and hashed email. Many technical audiences here block the pixel, so a server-only setup is reasonable. Check the window, because qualification that takes weeks may fall outside it.
Reddit fits demos for technical products, such as developer tools, data infrastructure, security and observability, through community targeting on the subreddits where those engineers spend time. The catch is that this audience avoids sales calls when a self-serve option exists, so demo requests from Reddit are fewer than trial signups and often come from an engineer evaluating on behalf of a buyer who hasn't appeared yet. Qualification can take longer for that reason.
That timing collides with Reddit's shorter default attribution windows. A request on day one that sales qualifies on day twenty is sent correctly and credited to nothing. Optimize on the Lead event and use the qualified stage for reporting, and check what window your account is set to before comparing Reddit with Google on opportunities.
Add a free-text "where did you hear about us" field to the demo form and store the answer on the CRM lead. Reddit's indirect path, where someone reads a thread, leaves, and searches your brand later, shows up there and nowhere else, and for technical products it is often the larger share of what Reddit actually produces. Count qualified opportunities by click identifier and by that answer, separately.
Architecture
The exact event sequence
Five stages. The interesting drop-off is between stages two and four, and its size differs enough by channel to reorder your entire budget. The identifier has to survive all of them.
Step 1
Ad click
Identifier captured on landing and written to the lead on submission.
Step 2
Demo requested
The form event. High volume, low meaning, useful only as learning volume.
Step 3
Demo attended
A real filter. A meaningful share of requested demos never happen.
Step 4
Qualified as an opportunity
Your sales team's own definition, agreed in writing before anything is measured against it.
Step 5
Qualification sent back
Uploaded as the conversion, so bidding chases pipeline rather than form fills.
Diagnostic sequence
What's specific to Reddit Ads
The funnel logic above is the same wherever you advertise. These are the parts that change because it's Reddit Ads.
- 1
Click identifier: the rdt_cid click identifier
Reddit appends rdt_cid to your landing page URL, and the Reddit Pixel keeps its own identifier in the _rdt_uuid cookie. Reddit's audience is unusually privacy-aware — ad-blocker and tracker-blocker usage on Reddit traffic runs well above the web average — so the share of visits where the pixel never loads at all is higher here than on any other network in this list. The URL parameter is the identifier that survives; the cookie often does not.
- 2
Import mechanism: the Conversions API
Server events posted to Reddit's Conversions API with the click identifier and hashed customer information. Reddit's implementation is younger than Meta's and its documentation moves — confirm the current endpoint, event names and required fields against Reddit's own developer docs rather than an integration blog post.
- 3
Deduplication
The pixel and the Conversions API event must carry the same conversion identifier for the same action. Because so much Reddit traffic never runs the pixel at all, a lot of accounts skip the pixel entirely and send server-side only — which is a legitimate choice here in a way it rarely is elsewhere, and it removes the deduplication problem completely. Decide deliberately rather than running both and hoping.
- 4
Window and timing
Reddit's default attribution windows are shorter than Meta's and are configurable. Check what your account is set to before reconciling anything, and verify the accepted event-freshness limit for server events against Reddit's current documentation.
- 5
The Reddit gotcha
Reddit converts on a delay and on trust. People read a thread, leave, think about it, and come back through a branded search a week later — which is a genuine Reddit-driven conversion that Reddit will never be credited for and Google will happily claim. If Reddit is judged purely on last-click inside its own window, it will always look worse than it is. Build the measurement, then argue about attribution with that context on the table.
Source-of-truth validation
How to prove the chain works
One real journey, followed all the way, then a reconciliation. Neither on its own is enough.
- A live Reddit ad clicked, and the identifier confirmed present on the landing URL.
- The same identifier confirmed on the lead and opportunity records in your CRM after a full real journey through every step.
- Qualification sent back confirmed arriving at Reddit Ads, verified by the events received and matched in Reddit Ads Manager, reconciled against your own records.
- Your crm's qualified opportunity records reconciled against Reddit Ads per record over a fully closed window.
- The same reconciliation repeated 30 days later.
Straight talk
When this doesn't apply to you
Worth checking before you build anything, because two of these are common and both mean the work isn't worth doing.
- If your demos are booked and run entirely by a sales team from outbound lists, this funnel isn't measuring your ad spend and there's nothing here worth building.
- If you are not running Reddit at meaningful spend, skip it. And if your Reddit strategy is organic community presence rather than ads, none of this applies — that traffic has no click identifier by definition.
- If your cycle from click to qualification sent back regularly exceeds the import window, the final event can't drive bidding whatever you build. Optimize toward demo attended instead and use the later data for budget decisions rather than for bidding.
- If almost none of your CRM records carry a click identifier today, that's the whole project. Fix capture first — the import is the easy half and no tooling rescues a record with nothing to reference.
What working looks like
Qualification sent back attributed to the click
Server-sideWeeks later if necessary, because the identifier lives on the lead and opportunity records in your CRM rather than in a cookie.
Reddit bidding fed the real outcome
8+ EMQVia the Conversions API, so it optimizes toward qualified pipeline rather than toward demo form fills.

The implementation, on Reddit Ads
Capture the rdt_cid click identifier on landing
Read rdt_cid from the landing URL and persist it server-side on first sight. Do not build on the pixel's cookie — on this audience specifically, assuming the pixel ran is the mistake.
Persist it to the lead and opportunity records in your CRM
Capture on landing, carry through every step of the form, write to the Lead, and map through lead conversion onto the Opportunity.
Send qualification sent back from the record
The upload fires when the CRM stage changes to qualified, referencing the identifier stored on the record. Dispatched to Reddit Ads through the Reddit Conversions API.
Deduplicate and reverse
Reddit deduplicates on the conversion id carried on both the pixel event and the server event. An opportunity disqualified after the fact should be adjusted, particularly where you're uploading at the qualification stage.

The honestanswers.
No buzzwords, no upsell. If we don’t know, we say so.
01Is Reddit Ads good for B2B SaaS demo requests?
For technical products sold to engineers, data teams or security staff, it can be. Expect fewer demo requests than trial signups, and judge it on qualified opportunities, including those where the form says they found you on Reddit.
02How do I send a qualified opportunity back to Reddit?
Through the Conversions API from the CRM stage change, with the rdt_cid saved on the lead and hashed email. Check your attribution window first; qualification that takes weeks may land outside it.
03Why isn't demo requested enough to optimize on?
Because the request-to-qualified rate is where channels differ most in B2B. Optimizing on requests buys the cheapest forms, and the cheapest forms are usually the least qualified.
04How does the identifier survive to qualification sent back?
It doesn't, as a cookie — the gap is too long. It has to be written onto the lead and opportunity records in your CRM at the point of ad click, where it lives as a field rather than as browser storage.
05What does Reddit Ads need to accept the conversion?
An event name Reddit recognizes, a conversion identifier matched to the pixel if you are also running one, a timestamp, hashed customer information, and the click identifier where you have it.
06How long does this take to build?
Two to four days for the implementation, plus a closed reconciliation window before we'd call it verified. Capture and persistence are the fiddly parts; the import itself is usually an afternoon.
07Can I do this myself?
Yes, and the reference pages on this site cover the mechanics. The part that's genuinely tedious rather than clever is keeping the rdt_cid click identifier alive through multi-step forms and multi-step demo forms and CRM lead conversion, which fails silently at every stage.
